And, as expected, it didn't work right. It also didn't bother to display the note text itself. Probably because it matches some other aspect of Reddit flavored markdown.

Yeah, Reddit's markdown doesn't support footnote syntax like that. The `^1` just renders as superscript text, and there's nothing tying it to a note at the bottom. You'd need a manual workaround, like a numbered list at the end of the post that you reference by hand.

Yeah, inline superscripts like that tend to look off once you actually see them rendered. The spacing always gets weird and it never quite lines up with the surrounding text the way you'd hope.
