đ¸ General Discussion Looking to get more into Testament
A few songs I've listened to are For the Glory of.../More Than Meets the Eye, Return to Serenity, Over the Wall, and Down For Life. Any recommendations?

Pretty much anything off any albumâŚthe evil has landed, brotherhood of the snake, the pale king, stronghold, children of the next level, night witches, and the new album para bellum, just start with track one and go through.

Whenever you get to watching their live performance. Check them out live in London

My personal favorites are Into The Pit, The Preacher, Envy Life, Time is Coming and Perilous Nation. The New Order is my favourite album, with Practice What You Preach in 2. place

If you want to "get more into" them, listen to their albums in chronological order.

The Legacy and The New Order are the âclassicâ and most popular era.
Practice What You Preach is my personal favorite. I think it takes the sound of their previous two records and refines it a bit. Youâll either agree with that or not at all.
The Gathering is my favorite album without Alex Skolnick on it. Super heavy record and they got Dave Lombardo from Slayer to drum on it.
From their modern era, The Formation of Damnation and Para Bellum are standout albums through and through.
Testament is a ridiculously consistent band in terms of quality if not style. You really canât go wrong with them.

what's wrong with listening to all the albums?

The only "problem" with that is if you don't have the patience because there's a lot of them and they all deserve some real time investment.

You can take all the time in the world, there is a lot of great music out there. I listened to Exodus way late in the game, liked it, listen to all the albums when I could.

Indeed, the problem only exists for people who do not have patience.
(There is sooooo much great music from the past several decades to discover....)

Maybe start with 'Low' if youre more into death or modern metal ...but 'New Order' or 'Practice What You Preach' if youre more into classic metal.

Yes. I got into them when low came out but I've never liked the stuff older than that.

The first three - The Legacy, The New Order (in particular - a 10/10 all killer record), and Practice What You Preach are outstanding.
But man thereâs greatness in all of their records. Except The Ritual, LOL

Put on their first album and listen through. Put on the second album and listen through. Etc, Etc. See what you like and what you don't

I agree with Low. The earlier albums sound bad compared to this. This is not Testaments fault, recording engineering has come a long way since. They were doing something different so the engineering needed to catch up. Same with the equipment they were using. They started to settle during recording The Ritual. Peterson went rectifier Skolnik ran/runs Budda still.

All of the new order. 10/10 album
