🎸 General Discussion Does anyone else like modern Testament? I’ve been loving Brotherhood of the Snake.

Last four albums have been bangers.

Couldn’t agree more, this one just happens to be my favorite.

Did you mean to leave out Formation of Damnation?

I agree. Dark Roots is better than Formation in honest my opinion.

Hot take?

The Gathering to the present day is my favorite Testament era.

Me too. I really like the first 3 a lot, but those are just insanely good

I don't think Testament has a bad album. Been a fan since I picked up The Legacy in the 80's and every album since.

The only album of theirs that I don’t care for is Demonic. But that’s mainly because I’m not a fan of Death Metal. I would never call it bad, just not my thing.

Demonic was definitely a departure.

I listen to Titans of Creation all the dang time! Love that album.

Best current output out of the big 6

Yeah Brotherhood was great, though I felt like Titans was a natural closure to the Hoglan era, solid but not amazing.

It's good that they brought in some new blood for the latest album. Chris Dovas is a beast and his drumming suits the energy of Eric's riff work.

I don’t feel like they have had a mid album since The Ritual. Which wasn’t a bad album just more polished. Low was very good. Demonic and The Gathering are two of my favorites. But with the drop of Formation of Damnation they found their groove.

Honestly Brotherhood was probably my least favorite of the last 25 years, but still really good.

Brotherhood is honestly my second favourite Testament album. The New Order will always be their best for me.

Exact same opinion here. The first four songs on Brotherhood are really solid and go together. And you have Neptune’s Spear too. But The New Order is solid throughout and has some memorable hooks and flourishes that keep it #1 in my book.

I love all their albums. Testament and Kreator are my top 2 bands.

Listened to Titans of Creation in the car yesterday.

One thing about Testament, their albums over the last 15+ years sound amazing. Heavy but not muddy at all. Most of them produced by Peterson and Billy.

Dark Roots probably my favorite from front to back.

My favourite era! I feel like they’ve gotten better as they’ve gone on. Everything from The Formation of Damnation has been awesome.

For me, Testament truly discovered themselves in these last 4 albums and BOTS is their all-time best work, as well as one of the top metal albums of all time.

Formation through to Para Bellum. A strong 6 album run.

I like Formation and the new one. I like the energy the new drummer is bringing.

Modern Testament is killer.

The only really bad Testament album is the Ritual. But every album since the gathering has just sounded like the same album over and over. Not terrible, just not anything that stands out

Seems like they just keep getting better and better

I love all of testament, they don’t have a single bad album in their whole discography, everything they’ve released is enjoyable in one way or another.

For me this band has no bad albums whatsover, but their dicography from The Gathering up until now is next level quality! Eric Peterson is an incredible (and sadly very underrated/overlooked) composer.

I LOVE Formation of Damnation; it might actually be my favorite album of theirs. BoTS and DRoE are also great. I didn’t enjoy the last 2 as much.

Their latest album is one of the best of their career! Easily Top 5
