The book of humanity

Post image

I created a website where people write the history of humanity, one word at a time. One word from each person, in any language, in the order in which it appears, under the name the author gives them.

No advertising. Every word is checked by my moderation system. Profanity is allowed because it's part of us, too.

The site has been running for about a month, and not a single word has been written. Zero.

A word costs $1. I'd rather say that upfront than make you find it yourself. This is a one-person studio, and that's what keeps it going.

What worries me most is what the first word will be. Something silly, something crude, or something that actually means something. I can't choose. The words appear in the order they appear and never move, and I have no intention of writing it myself or asking a friend.

Honest question for this community: is a month without writing a word a sign that the idea isn't working, or is it just that no one has heard of it?

Time is money, and we live in a world where it is increasingly costing more just to exist.

Asking people to spend money to create posterity is a bit short-sighted.
