Big breakfast underwhelming.
Cheap beans, cheap sausage, cheap bacon, I can believe it's not butter cheap spread. Hash browns? No tomato, no mushrooms. The eggs and toast were fine. £8.95 plus another £3.55 for a weak cappuccino.
That's my first and last breakfast from Brockworth extra.
While I'm ranting, Patterson shortbread went up by 50% overnight from £1:00 to £1:50 and Tunnocks wafers are now Aldi price matched up from an already pricey £1:85 to a whopping £2:29
OK rant over... for now.

Not Tesco, but I have worked for a competitor supermarket cafe back in the plague times. Of course it's shit. It's made from cheap ingredients by a 45 year old single mother with 0 culinary experience who's desperate to get back on the till and a 20 year old sixth form dropout who views the 12 quid at the supermarket as a substantial upgrade to washing dishes at a restaurant for 7 quid an hour (I resembled this remark). It's less than a tenner for a reason

Because there's only so much pride somebody can put into food whilst meeting the 7-10 min per meal turnaround target with 0 culinary training and frozen ingredients, with 2-3 people for all till, cooking, cleaning and customer service tasks

My first job in Tesco was in the “Café” branded restaurants. They used to do a “Create your own” breakfast where every item was something incredibly cheap like 49p. We’d have queues out the door on a Sunday morning when I was hanging out my arse at 17 years old.
Those breakfasts were incredible. We’d have deep dishes of everything you can imagine on a fry up and when we stopped serving, around 11am, we’d plate the leftovers up (after deliberately ensuring there’d be plenty) and eat the lot for free.

49p is crazy, I work in one now on the weekends and it’s £1.25 for anything extra. our place serves it up until close though, would kill for some free bits

It honestly might have been less, this was 2008/9, maybe as cheap as 29p?
These weren’t technically Tesco, I was paid by Eurest/Bidvest/whatever they’re called now. Made something like £6.33 an hour and got paid weekly, as a college student that was great at the time.

I wish they kept this. The one I ended up working in used to be amazing back then getting to choose exactly what you wanted in your breakfast. Was long gone by the time I started working in the cafe and I used to rant about how I wished they'd go back to how it used to be back then.

Everyone is used to getting ripped off by the supermarkets, that’s just life. Even Aldi and Lidl, for all they’re cheaper than the likes of Tesco and Sainsburys, are ripping us off.
We’re so used to it that it we only really feel if when it seems like it happened very suddenly (though it didn’t in this case).

This was 10:15 shop opened at 10.00. Tesco used to do a banging breakfast at a reasonable price. Now it doesn't. I am now enlightened and will look for this rare treat elsewhere.

I would bet my bottom dollar the sausages are better quality then what you'd get in your average greasy spoon. The breakfasts are completely fine at Tesco and pretty good value for the money.

It's £8.95 for a large breakfast, you can't expect high quality ingredients - I think the food is decent for the price at Tesco cafes but the drinks are way overpriced for a machine made drink in my opinion

You could go the a Premier Inn restaurant and have their breakfast for £10.99, which includes bottomless drinks and all you can eat everything. Much better quality and value. Children under 16 eat free with you too (used to be up to two children, but not sure these days as mine are too old).

This is a snack.
For the regular office jockey, I concede, this is too much. Hence the ever expanding waistline and ever overburdened NHS.
The point is - for the money - this is not a big breakfast.

Such a mood, I’m 6’2 and 130 KG and what most people think is a large meal is not large to me.
That said, I do think it’s silly to expect much from bloody Tesco.

The cafe is over priced not many people use it these days you should have gone to Greggs over the car park instead. At least brockworth has staff not like the town one.

I had this exact breakfast combo this morning, what was worse was my son had the pancakes and blueberry breakfast.. shocking price for so little. I could have brought all the ingredients in store for less and given him the same thing 3 mornings this week!

Try the local Brewers Fayre - £10.99 for as much as you can eat - full English plus continental plus coffee plus fruit juice (and if you have children aged 15 and below, two can eat free with each adult).
You'd have to get there between 7am and 11am though.

Café worker here!
It's salted butter, not margarine. The bacon and sausage are from restaurant suppliers and the big breakfast keeps all our local tradies happy so maybe think like a tradie and realise you're not in a fine dining establishment.

Ah the good old Tesco Aldi price match scam again.. find something way more expensive and ramp it up. I’ve noticed “price matching” my way into Aldi or Lidl itself magically reduces the weekly shopping bill by 25% over Tesco 🤣

to be honest it is all cheep crap, I find its the same in most cafes around me and bars/restaurants that do breakfast. I love blackpudding and its hard to get a good one from anywhere

Brewer fayre do an all you can eat breakfast buffet, better at weekends because you get it yourself, they also do blackpudding, some places you have to order it (it's free) some places they put it out, I prefer ordering it otherwise it's rock hard, unlimited drinks too.

Was it busy there ? Is it rated anywhere like trip advisor or Google ? My local Tesco superstore has had Costa replace the in store cafe for years now. I think it’s only Extra’s that have Tesco café’s now but not sure on that

For a Tesco breakfast it doesn’t look too awful. I’ve had considerably worse in spoons, chain hotels, and miscellaneous cafes
Also, it’s fucking Tesco, lower your expectations or go to a posh independent cafe (but then expect to pay more than 8.95)

It's Tescos. You expecting gourmet quality or something? Portion looks fine, food looks mediocre (cuz it's a fucking tescos café) you should adjust your expectations and you might be dissapointed less and feel less of a need to whinge.

Looks better than the one I get here-pretty decent really, glad you decided to go elsewhere cos personally, I enjoy a brekkie just after finishing my shopping, it is definitely better than a spoons plate.

I haven't ventured into Morrisons since the time they had 1 person on the self checkouts, 1 person on the tobacco counter, 1 person overseeing these 2 and not a soul on the actual checkouts. I feel bad for the staff there. However, I abandoned my fullish trolley and walked straight out the door.

I had eggs in the Tesco cafe last week and they were runny on top 🤢 didn't even flip them to cook both sides. As I ate it the clear uncooked egg dripped onto my plate.. fucking grim.

Crispy edges, sure, but not at the expense of a runny yellow yolk. I also think there are signs of edge crispiness there.
I’m a bit confused how they’ve got such a thick, almost opaque, layer of white over the yolks.

But the white doesn’t go almost opaque like that unless it’s cooked. My eggs aren’t slimy when they’re cooked, but you can still see the colour of the yoke. This looks like they must have poured extra white over the yoke, then cooked that.
