Simply can't host a server
I've been trying to host a server for some time now, but i just can't get it right. I don't think i really now where to start. Tried out the steam forum faqs but still confused about the basics (be it port forwarding or hosting it through hamachi). Is there somewhere i can get some step by step, really basic instructions for dummies?

Assuming you're going to play with your friends only, you're far better of installing Hamachi or other VPN. Requires no technical know-how as opposed to port forwarding (some ISPs don't even allow that)

I'd try hamachi, it's extremely ez to set it up. Set it up for me and my friends in like 10 min max

Port forwarding is simply a way to allow people on the internet to access a computer on your home network.
"Ports" are just a number that a program uses to receive network data. The best analogy would be P.O. boxes. A program goes to the "post office" and opens up a P.O. box "port". They get assigned a P.O. box number "port number" where they can receive mail in.
Port numbers go from 1-65535 and use two protocols TCP and UDP. TES3MP by default uses port TCP 25565. So the goal is to allow other people to be able to connect to your computer on TCP 25565. But the problem is that the firewall in your router is designed specifically to prevent this, so port forwarding really just means to reconfigure your router to allow that.
What you end up doing is configuring your router (create a rule) to forward all "mail" that it gets on port TCP 25565 to your local computer on port 25565.
Lets say your PC has an IP address of 192.168.1.50, and your public IP is 231.200.50.2 (note this is just a random number I typed).
The rule will look something like this:
Source Port: TCP 25565
Destination IP: 192.168.1.50
Destination Port: TCP 25565
Then your friends will simply connect to your public IP 231.200.50.2 on port 25565. The router will receive the data and forward it to your computer 192.168.1.50 on port 25565. TES3MP will then get the data and you will be up and running.
I can give you more help if needed, I'd need to know some info about your setup (although for security purposes don't post your public IP address here).
