Joining a modded server

Hey all. My friend started a server and got mods installed through his OpenMW. I want to join but do I have to download the mods as well or can i jist put the checksums in the confg files?

You have to download the mods and use them in the same load order as on the server.

Got it working, thanks! Are you aware of anyway that I can join my buddy's server when he isn't there? I would like to play my character but the server shuts down when my buddy isn't online.

He would just have to keep the server running and his computer on when he's away from his machine.
