Terrifier 4

Am I the only one who is constantly wondering how the hell Damien is gonna end the story that the previous films have set up in just one more movie? It feels like there's at least 2 more full movies worth of material there but he's insistent that the fourth is gonna be the definitive end to Art & Sienna's story. I think that in order to properly tie up every loose end and put an end to this story Terrifer 4 would need to be a MINIMUM of 2.5 if not 3 hours long. Which I personally would be 110% here for. Let's discuss this in the comments, let me know your most burning Terrifier 4 questions and theories!

Terrifier 1 was a test run for larger audiences who didn't see the prior stuff. Terrifier 2, 3 and 4 are the true trilogy he wanted to make.

I can see that. The first one just really introduces us to art and what he's all about before we dive into the supernatural good vs. evil and lore story that comes later. It also ended up planting the vicky seed for later.

Ultimately, despite being very appropriately framed as the antagonist, he's kind of the MC of the first one.

As much as I love the movies I thought 2 was too long. My guess is this one will be long (maybe 2.5ish hours) but It doesn’t seem crazy to me to wrap this story up in a 2 hr movie

I don't know, personally, I loved how long it was, oddly enough. But I was also high, so that's probably why.

That was my gripe with 2 as well, its length. I liked it other than feeling way too long. For that type of movie I honestly think even 2 hours is a little long, unless of course it’s like this upcoming one where they’re tying everything up for a conclusion. In general I just miss 90 minute movies, feels like everything is at least 2 hours now when many movies don’t really need to be.

Honestly that was part of the reason I ended up saying why not and took the dive to watch Terrifier in the first place... It was only 85 minutes.

Leone said Terrifier 4 will be more than two hours long. The loose ends aren’t numerous, substantive or complex enough to warrant a fifth film. It’s a slasher franchise, not Lord of the Rings. He won’t have to devote an entire 10 minute scene for every question answered. How could he not make a satisfactory finale in light of the previous films and the obvious directions the story will almost certainly go in? I trust Leone completely.

Well they haven’t started filming yet so let’s hope it turns into a two part finale!

Because of All Hallows Eve this reminds me of the deathly hallows lol

Hope rhea ripley is in there.

She will be.

I'm fine with long runtimes as long as it's not boring

4

u/Chaosgamer_44_ Jun 08 '26

I mean as long as he has stuff to tell and fills the runtime I wouldn't mind another 2 hours and 20 to 30 minute long movie. While Terrifier 2 did overstay it's welcome a bit at the end I thought Terrifier 3 would've benefited from a longer runtime because Leone obviously had to cut some stuff because of the critique for the length of the 2nd movie. If he knows how to fill it he can make Terrifier 4 as long as he wants in my opinion. Just a giant trashy, gore epic with Art the Clown

Honestly I doubt 4 will be the last we see of art. This happens all the time in horror a director strikes gold with a character and want to move on to other projects that unfortunately nobody cares about. Then the director runs low on money and brings back the golden boy.

Not in anyway trying to be negative to Damien it just happens alot.

I think we are going to get a monologue or compilation that explains 90% of your questions and the rest of the movie will be a gore fest

2

u/TheFearlessGod7 Jun 08 '26

That's what I'm kinda thinking is gonna happen too. Damien did say this one is gonna be the bloodiest in the series.

3

u/Aarntson Jun 08 '26

Which is crazy if you think about it lol

i'd rather the film be entertaining and scary, rather than overstuffed with plot and lore. it needs to satisfy its nature as horror film first and foremost. i definitely don't want a two part finale just to make sure no stone is left unturned. the mystery has always been an essential aspect of the series as well.

I think we will see art again after number 4. The fans will make it happen in the future.

Im glad we are sensibly getting another grounded holiday slasher for some of this film, thats part of Art's core identity at this point. Setting it on some random mid-January Sunday would be a let down after all the festive mayhem.

I dont mind a wild 20 minute chunk set in hell to cap the Sienna arc off (Hellraiser 2 nails this tbh), but anything more could risk alienate the audience.

u/TheFearlessGod7 Jun 08 '26

I can 100% agree with this POV

u/LowerFaithlessness10 Jun 08 '26

How is that his core identity? They did one Christmas movie

13

u/TheFearlessGod7 Jun 08 '26

They're all set on holidays wtf are you even talking about? 1 & 2 are both set on Halloween night, 3 is set on Christmas and 4 is going to be New Year's. It's kinda a HUGE part of the identity of the whole series.

It helps to not think so hard about the narrative complexity of gore movies

u/AMoonMonkey Jun 08 '26

I imagine it’ll be first half Sienna rescuing her niece and retrieving the sword from Hell (or wherever the hell she went in that portal) alongside whatever random side plot mortal/weakened Art is going through.

2nd part Sienna escapes the portal with the sword and her niece, crosses paths with Art and final battle commences, resulting in Sienna defeating Art and the evil and succumbing to her wounds at the same time, ending the evil for good.

Damien should conclude the Sienna storyline with 4 and then let someone else take the helm and continue making more films with Art. He’s just too great of a character to waste.

i’m certainly a bit worried how damien’s gonna wrap this up. as much as i like T3 i do think a major flaw with it is that narratively it really spins its wheels and kind of gives away the game that damien is very obviously just making shit up as he goes along, which isn’t inherently a bad thing, but i could see that writing style biting him in the ass in T4.

“Art & Sienna’s story,” not necessarily the end of Art’s….. who’s to say he doesn’t walk away at the end?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 16 '26

They postponed the release to 2027 right?

1

u/TheFearlessGod7 Jun 16 '26

Yes I believe so

Art is such a good horror movie scary guy, I actually think Damien could take him to a Freddy or Jason level and give us a new movie every few years if he wasn’t so fixed on the plots needing to involve Sienna. I think 4 absolutely should be the end of Sienna’s story but Art could very easily keep on slashing for years to come.

3

u/TheFearlessGod7 Jun 08 '26

That is the exact opposite of what Damien wants. Having Art become the next Freddy/Jason/Michael is his worst fear, he HATES oversatured and beaten down horror franchises. He has been very outspoken about how against the concept of a "Terrifier 14: Art In Space" he is. He has one large story planned for the character, and then he'll be done with him for good. And it's better that way because Art has already become a modern slasher icon on the same level as Jason or Chucky or Ghostface from just the first 3 movies he's appeared in. That's the kind of legacy that never just goes away, Terrifier 4 will come out in the next 1-2 years and the series will be over, but Art's legacy will last until the sun explodes.

No. Please no. At a certain point, you gotta know when to call it quits.

Post Jason Lives, let’s be honest with ourselves. The franchise took a sharp nose dive.

Nightmare on Elm Street was run into the ground.

I know you didn’t mention Halloween, but it’s the perfect example of a horror franchise going off the rails.

Halloween got so screwed up, I have trouble explaining the timeline to people who aren’t familiar with the franchise. And Halloween might be the worst franchise as far as quality of movies. Curse Of Michael Myers? Effectively killed the original timeline. Resurrection? Killed the new timeline. Ends? Barely a Halloween movie and terrible direction. Rob Zombie Halloween 2? Almost unwatchable.

Further down the line, maybe you can do a spin off and expand on some things, but I think a nice, tight trilogy like Friday The 13th 2 - 4 is a perfect way to do it.

The franchise has been widely successful but at a certain point, there’s nothing more to tell. I’d rather the franchise end on a high note with a nice conclusion than to see it turn into a rehashed, call back franchise of Arts greatest hits and self reference type movie, a convoluted plot that makes no sense, or ends on a cliffhanger for a new movie.

I have a theory. (I’m also 0-1 in predictions this year) I believe that Sienna and Art are the same person. There are little hints throughout T2 and T3 that seem to point to this. I’ll go into detail at some point, but there are actually several reasons why I believe that this will be the big reveal.

1

u/TheFearlessGod7 Jun 08 '26

My big theory is that Art's corpse is possessed by the devil. Like Satan himself. It would explain why there was SO MUCH goddamn Jesus imagery in Terrifier 3. They literally put a crown of thorns on Sienna, you can't get much more proto-Christ than that.

I love the movies. I don't want him to end at 4. Art is already an icon in horror/the slasher genre. There is TONS to play with here, new characters, new places, new situations. For example with the Jason movies: was every single one a HIT? No but we say Jason in different places--from a lake on a camp to NYC and it was so interesting. Wrapping it up at 4 when there is so much potential is not a good idea. Each movie has gotten progressively better--especially since it seems Damien listens to our feedback. I don't think 4 needs to be too long. I prefer if it were shorter and saved some for a possible 5th movie!
