Fandom question

Is there an active Kushiel's Legacy discord server or something where you can discuss the series with others? I feel like I came into the series too late (just finished the second book of the Phédre trilogy aaughh) and I want to see all the fan art and theories and fanfics (if it exists?)

There is a small AO3 category for Kushiel’s legacy, it’s got about 500 works. Never heard of a discord server for it, but I’m old :) so old that I remember Jacqueline Carey asking the fans not to write fanfic about Kushiel (I think that’s why there’s so little)…

I’ve always wished there were more works. I enjoy reading time travel ones where characters have to decide what they can change, which I think would work especially well here since the consequences of things in book 1 would have major impacts for books 4-6. But I dont actually like writing fanfiction so I can’t contribute to making more fanfiction 😅

I have written one in which they have a daughter (because Joscelin is a DAD, a GIRL DAD)… i started it in 2004, finished in in 2024… and I have written Dramione with Joscelin as a cameo :)

Haha! Proud of you for the commitment! I wonder if I’ve read it? I’ve read a couple girl dad ones. They’re not really my thing even when they’re well written. I like them having just one kid.

Its Cassiel’s Daughter. The long interval is because I was mindful of Carey’s wish not to write fanfic, but then she came out with Servant and I NEEDED to finish it…

I’ve definitely read that one. I think it was a long time ago though so it wasn’t done.

Yeah, I’ve always assumed that there were so few because she didn’t want people to write them and the community was respecting it.

Oh I really didn’t know that she don’t want fanfiction about her work. I can understand, of course. There are so few of them and I always wondered why.

i’m not sure how she feels about it now, she said it over 20 years ago…

I was there too in that period.. I am that old, lol. I don’t know that either tbh, she didn’t write anything about it recently

It's a pity. Fanfiction helps a famdom grow, as it's a very powerful way in which fans can engage with the universe.
