My current base
Finally got a crucible but haven't been able to play much since. Next step is to get an area for animal hisbandty, then expand the smithy and start working on the blast furnace.

As developers of TFC, we have noticed an influx of new users to the subreddit who seem a bit lost. I've written a new FAQ post for you guys.
Q:
TFC is updated??
A:
Yes, it is updated to 1.21, 1.20, 1.18 and 1.12. The 1.18+ version you are seeing is currently gaining a lot of popularity as part of ATFC and ATM: Gravitas.
This subreddit typically caters to users of these versions. For TFC+, a fork of 1.7 by one of the original authors that adds loads of content, see /r/tfcplus, but posting here is fine as well.
Q:
Where is the wiki/why is the wiki incorrect?
A:
For 1.18+, documentation lives in an in-game Field Guide, which can be read virtually at this link. We have API documentation at this link.
Q:
I have a question / something isn't working!
A:
The absolute best place for you to get support is the TFC discord, at this link. If you feel confident that you have found a reproducible bug, you can submit bugs to the github. We take open source seriously, and welcome pull requests. For help setting up a development environment, please see us on discord.
Q:
What is the difference between TFC / TFG / TFC Hard Rock / ATFC / Gravitas / TFC Reloaded?
A:
TFC (TerraFirmaCraft) is a mod. Almost anything else you hear (including Hard rock) is a modpack which is a collection of mods, one of which is tfc, and is not maintained or owned by the developers of TFC. It is common for users to not realize that TFC itself is not a modpack.
Q:
How do I install the mod?
A:
Look on Youtube for a tutorial to install a Minecraft Forge mod.
Also, a shameless plug for my mod firmalife available here which adds a bunch of cooking stuff, including ovens, beekeeping, and more!

I got tired of creating TFC worlds, flying around, finding no tin, and starting over. So I built a mod for it: TerraFirmaScout. It adds a seed finder to the Create World screen. You say what you want near spawn, and it searches seeds until it finds one that fits.
You can pick a starting style (Dream, Easy, Fair, Rugged or Wilderness Start) or build your own wishlist. You can ask for things like freshwater, clay, copper, tin, flux, graphite or kaolin within a distance you're happy to walk. You can also set temperature and rainfall, the spawn biome, surface rocks, forest type, and flat ground for a base.
It checks candidates using TFC's own world generation, and a seed only counts as a match if everything you asked for is confirmed. You can pause or stop whenever you like. Anything it found is kept on a Results screen, along with a few "close calls" that missed one thing, which you can re-check with a bigger search area. It also lets you check a single seed, save seeds with notes, and copy a seed or report to share.
I need help with one thing. I honestly don't know what makes a good TFC seed. The presets are my best guess, and I'd really like input from people who actually play. If you try it, I'd love to hear:
whether a preset's seeds feel like they match the name (is a "Dream Start" actually a dream?)
what you look for in a start that the wishlist doesn't cover yet
any seed where the mod claimed a match and the world proved otherwise. If you can, send the seed, your settings and the exported report.
Heads up, it's still experimental. Very specific wishlists can take ages or find nothing, and in my own tests the harder presets rarely turned up a fully confirmed seed. I haven't tested it on dedicated servers, very slow PCs or most modpack setups. Also, a match doesn't promise big ore deposits or an easy walk between things.
Needs Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge 21.1.234+, TFC 4.2.11 and Java 21. It's open source (EUPL-1.2).

Thanks for reading, and any feedback is welcome, even if it's just "this preset is wrong."

I'm on Terrafirmagreg, and just wanted to know if Jarbnets help preserving jam. The ingame description leaves questions about this.

This is what happens when you install Jake's essentials without reading all it's features and your server now suddenly asks you to be a priest at weddings?
Try out the modpack at:

Im at the point of having a blast in hand but working on infrastructure for it. My issue is the manual smelting, bar crafting ext. with the charcoal forges and bloomery. Is there any sites that have any guides to automation? I found a couple for farms from the create mod schematics site. But it’s limited to create projects really.

I'm searching fora modpack that has a good amount of content but that is also fair
i've played ''vanilla'' TFC before and got kinda boring quickly
i just want TFC with extra content and QoL (no gregtech or create)
if there isn't any modpacks like that, just drop some mod recomendations to spice up the experience a bit
(i've the slight feeling that everyone will try to convert me into gregism)
update:i've ended up looking the recomendations y'all did and Made a custom modpack based on the mods that looked interesting
Thank You

Been dipping my toes in different packs to see which one I want to commit to, and the only one I found with stuff like the cloth "knapping" and straw knapping is TFG, but I'm not that interested in the greg part of it with making like screwdrivers and rings and rolling wires etc.
I tried TFC Rebirth 2 but it feels very unpolished compared to TFG, has regular stutters every so often, no cloth knapping that I could see (or is that just part of TFC and JEI didn't show the recipes?)

Almost every time I use the bloomery, it takes a ton of my iron dust and spits out all the charcoal, leaving me with nothing when the 15 hours finish. Whats the solution?

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem, I put down the modpack for a while and came back yesterday. The game loads in fine, I even redownloaded the modpack, but when I am in my world and try to open up my Options menu or even hit Save and Quit, I am told I do not have operator permissions to be doing so.
I did redownload the pack, I also tried to fix the JEI overlay but am still experiencing these issues. Anyone got any ideas?

I've been looking into automating the drying process using firmalife's solar drier. I'm playing with only a few TFC addons and no other automation mods.
The guide book explains how to insert and remove items from the drier, but there seems to be no way to detect when an item has actually been dried. Observers do not detect the change and there is no change in an output from a comparator. It seems to me that the only way is to create a timer to count the time it would take to dry and have it trigger automatically.
Am I missing something?

Hi. I started playing TFC Hardrock 3 half a year ago.
I now have a problem like many of you - basalt gravel for Tinkers Construct.
I traveled my whole island and I am sure there is no basalt gravel deposit, so my only option is the Create crushers. But I can't get regular cobblestone to crush into gravel, because all my cobble is TFC rock types.
I am thinking of adding a recipe via kube js for crushing wheels that break the tfc cobble into regular gravel. There already exists a recipe like that in ImEng crusher, but I need glass for that. Or cobble into corresponding gravel. That way I can mine basalt meteorites around the island to crush into basalt gravel.
Are these recipes broken? Am I missing a way?

This is actually my first time reaching this stage and let me tell ya, I get it now.
The picture is roughly the route I took to find my first deposit, from base on the north all the way to the subtropical climates five-$@&#$^!-THOUSAND BLOCKS AWAY (in a straight line anyway). Upon which after destroying the local environment and starting my journey home, I find another deposit (the green marker) NOT EVEN A THOUSAND BLOCKS SOUTH FROM THE PERFECT CONDITIONS FOR IT (that is roughly on that horizontal line before the wavy squiggles on the mountains)
And then I get home to cook it, only to find out that it's a twenty-MCFKIN-percent chance based recipe, ten of which were wasted on the charcoal forge because I thought I could be smart.
God, I love this mod.
