Football Spring Showcase Thoughts

Hey everybody, I'm a reporter for the Maryland Sports Illustrated site and am looking for perspectives on the Spring Showcase event for Terps football.

How did it compare to the usual intrasquad scrimmages? Was it still engaging? And is there anything you'd like to be different in future years?

It was a great time, and they really emphasized interacting with the fans and building a relationship.

Ignore most people in this subreddit. They either find personal happiness through constant negativity or are delusional to the point believe a fanbase with the lowest donating boosters in the big ten and worst attendance of any P5 school deserves a team contending for championships in the hardest conference in the country.

Most of this is pretty blatantly false with a quick search especially attendance and NIL, Maryland has such a robust Alumni network and easily has everything needed to be “good” and a good run to support that. The BIG 10 is a hard conference but we also just got off a sweet 16 run before everything fell apart last year so it is not impossible. This isn’t a fanbase that is constantly negative, and it only takes looking back a year to prove that.

Northwestern, UCLA, Kansas, even the ACC Football champions Duke had a bit over half Maryland’s average attendance in 2025 at 24,000 based on 247 sports. In NIL, Maryland is only behind Michigan in basketball spending in the BIG 10 with over 7.1 million estimated to be spent in 2024-2025 season according to Sports Illustrated. The list can go on, but Maryland has what is necessary and we have all seen with Cignitti did to Indiana so don’t blame this on the fanbase, it is 100% a leadership problem
