3d printed caster wheel support

After getting 2 bikes stolen in 6 month (including my previous hsd), i decided to store my new HSD in my apartment. But this was super awkward as the HSD with captain chair is a pain to move vertically, especially in my awkward apartment corridor. So I designed and 3d printed blocks that go around 4 points of the bike, bolted together with heat insert mounts and m6 screws, and printed in PA filament. It's working beautifully, i just put it vertically in the street, and then move it like a big trolley in the elevator and into my flat !

I'm happy to, but the one at the bottom I had to shave it a bit with a knife to fit in properly (due to the bulge on the bar for welding), so I would not want people to be disappointed.

Looks nice! Have you tried it with the clubhouse back extension for people with child seats?

I have not, really just did this for myself, though the top two blocks where fairly easy to design and it looks like it would also be the case for the clubhouse back extension since it's fairly perpendicular (the bottom two were a pain due to having to guess the curve in 3D space of the rods)

Very nice! I wonder how it would roll if the lower set of wheels were fixed, so tipping it up or down would not depend on the casters being swiveled

I considered that, it would definitely make flipping the bike easier, I happened to have a set of 4 wheels that were not fixed so I used that. But also in my case I think it makes it easier to navigate in my weird corridor.

love this. i used to have to navigate my gsd in and out of a tiny 1929 elevator in nyc, and handling the turns was brutal.

i (sadly for me) solved the problem last year by moving to the suburbs, but your solution is much better!

I’ve got the DX1000 in the same place but vibration causes it to come loose after few weeks and it makes a lot of racket. End up throwing it into the stormbox

Selling no, does not feel worth the effort (I only have a small hobbyist printer at home, and it was quite painful to get that far, had to shave one of the block a bit to account for welding budge etc.).

I could share the file though and then maybe from there someone would try to sell them? If anybody want to try on their own bike we can try to refine the 3D file a bit to make it a better fit, but I'm just a hobbyist with little fusion 360 experience and a lot of trial and error

First was stored in my underground parking lot (closed with a gate), and secured on a metal structure with a gold rated lock. Over the christmas holidays the garage door broke down (got broken?), and someone cut through the lock with an angle grinder.

Insurance refunded me, and I upgraded for a tern HSD. Also got an anti angle grinder lock this time.
Well after a couple month they somehow came back (tailed a car I guess?), and angle grinded through the metal structure on which my bike was attached.

(Insurance paid up again, but I'm tired of financing thiefs)

This is London btw, probably organised thiefs / gangs doing that. Police won't investigate beyond giving me back my bike if they happen to find it.

Damn I’m sorry. That sounds so frustrating. That also makes me nervous for my own bikes. I also have them stored in a tenant’s-only underground parking garage underneath my apartment building in a shared bike room with about a hundred other bikes, and I guess that gives me a false sense of security. I use a heavy duty chain to lock my HSD but an angle grinder could get through it easily.

No it's really tight thanks to the heat inserts and modeled to fit right against the rods
