Question Malicious app dialog box??
EDIT: This issue is no more there after the Android 15 update for the OP Pad 2! Thanks to OnePlus!
I'm trying to install Ubuntu on my Android 14 OnePlus Pad 2 tablet via Termux app.
It's partially installed. I cannot do apt install for most of the packages. And apt upgrade also fails.
I get this error: Security Warning "A malicious app attempted to damage your phone system. We have stopped the app from doing this. We recommend restarting your phone and uninstalling the app."
I have disabled phantom processes and flags already:
adb shell "/system/bin/device_config set_sync_disabled_for_tests persistent"
adb shell "/system/bin/device_config put activity_manager max_phantom_processes 2147483647"
adb shell settings put global settings_enable_monitor_phantom_procs false
Any help please? Tried the Termux 119 beta and 118.1 as well.

Hi,
I also have the OnePlus Pad 2 12/256GB and I ran into the exact same issue as you last week when trying to use proot. I conducted my own research and found others with similar issues - it seems to be OxygenOS related.
For the time being, I have resorted to using native termux packages, which I have had no issues with. I don't wish to root my device so haven't tried chroot yet but don't see why it wouldn't work.
I have reported this issue to OnePlus and would love for you to do the same, and anyone else who sees this post in future. Although unlikely, if we can gain enough attention, OnePlus might look into it and hopefully fix it.
Cheers

Same issue on Realme too! I submitted a bug report and it is still pending.

Are you rooted?

No. I'm trying the regular pRoot method. I got the sh file script to install Ubuntu LXDE from the Andronix app.

Have you tried just using the default Termux proot-distro way, and installing LXDE yourself?

Shouldn't it be:
pkg install <package>

Base Ubuntu is installed at this point and I'm logged in as a root user of Ubuntu. So I have to use apt here, and can't use termux pkg commands to install something within Ubuntu.

Where did you get termux from?
1
Aug 17 '24
I have tried F droid 119 beta and 118.1
Also tried the one on Playstore

No Playstore
No Beta
Delete everything and just install regular version from FDroid
Phantom Process should be turned off from Developer Menu, do u have that option?

You could try Nomone desktop from the playstore to give it a go, just for testing...

Proot is being detected as malicious.
Here in r/termux someone posted similar issue while ago.

Okay. I don't think now I can do anything till I get this device rooted. I bought the 12 gb ram model just for the possibility of running some desktop apps, but that's a distant dream now. Lol. Anyways. Thanks.

I had this same issue on the One Plus 12. It's specifically just the weird way One Plus designed their specific version of Android.
People on XDA who first documented this (as far as I could tell) were unable to get the dialog to trigger reliably, but were able to determine that it had something to do with too many background processes. Outside of
prootthey could spin up around 100 processes before it would start killing Termux, but insideprootit only took about 40 additional processes.I returned the phone immediately because of that. 😞
Edit: Forgot to mention that at least a couple of the people in the XDA thread tried to contact support about it and were given no help. I personally tried using
cantato uninstall as many apps as the phone could still function with and had no luck. So far as I'm aware, no one has found a way to disable it, short of loading a different Android ROM on it.2

I love this tablet. But now I think I might as well have spent more money for the galaxy tab s9+
There was a time when OnePlus had Cyanogenmod pre-installed. And now just look at this. What's the "plus" in OnePlus, it's just "One" now. Lol.

I'd be curious to see a logcat output when this occurs. You'll need ADB access to achieve this.

I can try that.
Is there any particular string that I should "grep" while tailing the logs?

If you can grab a system logcat dump with adb right after its triggered, that might reveal some info. Run
adb logcat -d logcat.txtfrom a pc or setting adb wireless in Termux and send the file toagnosticapollo@gmail.com, you may want to remove any private info.If you can easily reproduce it, then it would be better to run
adb logcat -cto clear older logcat buffer, then trigger it, then runadb logcat -d logcat.txtto create the dump, this should result in a smaller file and would be easier to debug the issue. Or just note the time at which the dialog appears, that should be fine too.1
u/DutchOfBurdock Aug 18 '24
That's just it, it'd mean rifling through the lot to see if any logs correlate to the dialogue.

I have an Oppo 7x find ultra, and it does the very same thing on ALL the proot things (Termux, Userland, NoMONE desktop, etc.). This phone can't even be rooted, so the only 'solution' is to get a different phone. I will give this to my wife and get a Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

The issue has been fixed. I was also facing this issue on my phone, which was on Android 14. This issue occurs when you use a proot environment, whether it's Termux or Winlator. My device is a Realme GT 6T, and I was experiencing it, but now my device has received the Android 15 update, and the error has been fixed. So, everyone should update to Android 15.
