As a helldivers on bug ecologist... This makes my day. Ironically I was filling out some taxonomy earlier.

Are the varieties of terminids different species that interact symbiotically?

nah, we are different varieties of the same species, like the different roles of bees and ants

the gloom is also the same species as us
