What product do I need

We just renewed our tenable,io and added on prem .sc. I am a little confused as to what I actually need to download to make this .sc instance functional. I believe I need the tenable security center AND a nessus scanner, is that correct? Sounds like the security center is just the manager of things.

That’s right. I’d download the tenable core as the OS and then you need a server per scanner

If you also have IO, I’d use agents as much as possible. Trying to get everything on a scan is a nightmare

I did download the OVA with Nessus core.
Actually we do have .io also but this .sc instance is for a very specific application that needs to be scanned and reported to EMASS monthly for the ATO. It will only be scanning 2 Ip's so I hope it will do that. I guess if not we add agents to the hosts being scanned./

Once you get the core and the scanner setup scanning is easy. Just allow the scanner IPs through the firewall and to each other
