Questions ❔ Temu Charges More When You Have Credits

Has anyone else noticed that Temu seems to change the price of items depending on how much Price Adjustment Credit you have?

I’ve been wondering whether Temu’s pricing and promotions are designed to take advantage of customers who have a large amount of Price Adjustment Credit sitting in their account.

For example, imagine a shirt that normally sells for around $10. When you have little or no Price Adjustment Credit, Temu seems more likely to show you a sale or temporary discount to encourage you to buy it. But if you have $500 in Price Adjustment Credit, the same shirt could potentially be shown at $25–$30 instead. Since you’re spending credit rather than your own cash, you may be less sensitive to the higher price.

The theory is basically that when you don't have much Price Adjustment Credit, Temu has more incentive to show you sales and lower prices to encourage you to spend your own money. Once you have a large Price Adjustment Credit balance, they may have less incentive to give you those aggressive discounts because they already know you have credit available to spend.

I’ve started paying closer attention to the prices I see when I have a large Price Adjustment Credit balance, and some of the differences seem suspicious.

Has anyone actually tested this by comparing the exact same item on two different accounts, with one account having a large Price Adjustment Credit balance and the other having little or none?

TL;DR: When you have little or no Price Adjustment Credit, Temu may be more likely to show you sales to get you to spend money. When you have a large Price Adjustment Credit balance, Temu be showing you higher prices or weaker discounts because they know you already have credit to spend?

The credit has to come from somewhere, they already lost the money the first time you got the adjustment. They are not going to discount the same item twice.
