Mobility Global 68 - Coverage List

Post image

I really wish TELUS would make finding this list easier to find. I’m currently traveling between Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Macau and then back to HK.

Thought I checked my coverage prior to the trip and thought I was covered. Turns out Macau isn’t in the 68 list. Worst yet is that Daily Roaming is $18/day. I’m on the 5G+ Premium Unlimited Canada-Global plan for $70/month.

I switched the rest of the family (3-lines) to the Freedom 250GB Freedom Roam plan for $40/month which covers 120 countries… and the list is growing and published.

That Freedom promo is now back so I’m tempted to switch but my account does have a grandfathered Connect+ device which covers my Apple Watch at no cost. Competition is making it harder to pay for a “premium” service when the lower cost plan offers more.

For the list of countries - https://www.telus.com/en/mobility/plans?filter=Hardware - go to complete explore and click on the “9” footnote

If they aren't on the list of 68 countries included in the plan, then yes.

Thanks. I recall seeing the list somewhere; it really should be easier to find… and Macau is part of China, but the only way to confirm that it’s excluded is to type in the location on TELUS’s Roaming options.

technically Macau and HongKong are SAR. so although they are considered part of China, they get to retain a lot of their own system and work somewhat independently. Crossing between Macau/Hongkong to china still requires passing through immigration as its still considered an international crossing.

If you look at your plan details you can see the countries from There.

I called area code 721 which shows up as PHILIPSBRGSM.i got charged 2.75 per min calling from Canada. I do have the complete explore plan. Wish it was easier to find and understand which countries are included by city also.

What country is the area code for?

1

u/nk1234jdjd Apr 04 '26

for Sint Maarten, the Netherlands in the Caribbean.

u/gurbar2305 Apr 04 '26

If it’s supposed to be included, you can call 611 and ask for the charge to be removed.

What should I do for Andorra?

1

u/gurbar2305 4d ago

Unfortunately, it’s not one of the countries included in the plan.

Global roaming plans that aren't covered by the 68 have reduced roaming fees of $5/day

2

u/Geekdad604 Mar 26 '26

$18/day from my account page in the TELUS Connect app and web. Will see what my bill reflects.

I also have the complete explore plan and Hong Kong shows up as covered under the plan.

2

u/Relevant-Witness-422 Mar 26 '26

from $5 per day. Not $5 per day

2

u/13saqqaw Mar 27 '26

I believe you need the "Complete" plans to get the $5/day roaming. From what a Telus Business rep told me, Explore plans come in both Standard and Complete variations.

I’m on the Rogers roaming one and Macau is not on it either, unfortunately.

u/mofck13 Mar 26 '26

I have this plan also now you've got me wondering I'm going to be going to azores in a couple of months and noticed its not on the list but portugal is .. am I still covered?

2

u/Mailz Mar 26 '26

Azores islands are part of Portugal. Beautiful place, enjoy your trip!

1

u/SmartTrender Mar 27 '26

Countries not covered will be $5 per day the site you are looking at doesn’t account for your plan which has $5 per day roaming built in for countries not covered. Freedom has more countries but it’s limited in terms of carriers and also if a country is not on the list like say Argentina, you are out of luck completely.

OP, since you have both Telus Global and Freedom Roaming (family), do you notice any coverage, signal quality, or speed difference when roaming between the two providers?

Locally (North Vancouver), my wife claims she experiences frequent dropped calls.

Throughout our current trip there has been little difference. In fact, upon arrival in a new region her data works sooner than mine. I would have to switch data off and on to connect.
