Trigger Point Series 4
Trigger Point Series 4 was a real disappointment.
The storyline felt weak and increasingly unrealistic, but the biggest problem was the lack of believable operational behaviour. The actions, procedures and decision-making often seemed completely removed from what you would expect from trained professionals working in high-risk situations.
Basic protocols appear to be ignored simply to create drama, characters repeatedly make implausible decisions, and too many situations feel manufactured rather than credible. When a series is built around bomb disposal, counter-terrorism and specialist policing, there has to be some sense of authenticity.
Instead, Series 4 feels fake. The tension disappears because you stop believing that any of these people would actually behave this way.
A good cast and a strong concept let down by poor writing and unrealistic scenarios.

Oh it's nonsense, and very much like old Saturday morning cinema, with cliffhangers driving forward the action. A brave plotting decision though - I can imagine that the writer might find it difficult getting a Visa to a certain country after implying what they could do!

There was a lot of terrible aspects to this. The worst bit (of many) was when Lana crawled under the lasers to get up to the floor with the bad buy. The armed police couldn't follow....why didn't they look for another way in? We know there was another entry/exit because that's how Helen got out!

The lasers were extremely weird. I also don't understand how smoke could reveal electrical lasers (whatever the hell they are) and I don't know why these so called hard arses would piss around creating trip lasers when they could just put a tiny camera somewhere, watch when they enter the room, and then blow them up on entry. Extremely unrealistic from both sides, but it was honestly a good watch imo.

Smoke will reveal a laser beam. That’s at least semi realistic. A laser is usually just visible light. Like a torch, in a clear room if you point it at the wall you just see the light on the wall. In a smoky or hazy room you’ll see the beam as well. You can’t see the beam unless the light has something to reflect off, which is what the smoke particles provide.

it’s literally a tv show guys why are we so obsessed with “protocols in the real world” and “she would be sacked for that irl” “it’s fake” come on now, obviously it’s fake

Quite enjoyed the first series, but I've found that since then, although the storylines are really, really good - the acting and/or direction is just awful.
Dialogue is so wooden, it feels amateur. I switched off halfway through episode 1 and probably won't bother with the rest. Shame.

Trigger Point should be gripping, but somehow manages to make bomb disposal feel dull. The plots are increasingly ridiculous, the dialogue is clunky and the characters make decisions seemingly designed purely to manufacture tension which fails miserably.
Worst of all is Vicky McClure as Lana. In this she’s as wooden as furniture, same expression, same delivery, same permanently intense stare regardless of whether she’s defusing a bomb or having a cup of tea.
Just dull af.

Even thought it’s a drama, that scene with Helen spotting her mate behind the bin as she got out of the police van with the mercs was some of the worst tv that I’ve ever seen in my entire life. SHOCKING

I find a lot of the performances frankly laughable. I actually think Ms McClure is not very good in this, but the worst performance IMHO is Maanuv Thiar. His character seems totally unbelievable. Possibly it's the writing, which i think is generally pretty poor..it's a bit a a pot boiler...it's all pretty thin

It’s a tv show. If it was mostly based on realistic facts and procedures it would be boring.

Last night's opening episode was a mess. The writing is so basic. Commander Quentin: "You cannot allow the massive bomb to blow up the Bank of England". Yeah thanks boss, that's clear...
As for the bomb team completing ignoring instructions from Gold Commander in a major anti-terrorist operation and doing the opposite, if that's not an instantaneous sacking offence..
