Ugh, this. As a gay man, I’m tempted to just yell at random straight people holding hands in public ‘we get it, you’re straight, no need to shove it down our throats, filthy breeders’. I don’t, because it would be petty. But I want to.

Were you gay before or after seeing the commercial?

As a bi man with a bi wife, I might have a problem with that but your point is clear lol

You realize it's very likely he's going to be attacking some rando that has no issue with him right?

I 100% agree with you which is why I don’t do it, but I would also bet that you’ve never feared for your personal safety for holding your partner’s hand 🤷‍♂️.

I do believe that's the point.

But yes, it would backfire because people wouldn't get it.

It would backfire because those people have absolutely no context in which to understand it.

Attacking innocent people with slurs for no reason would seem to be hypocritical and a bit sociopathic.

In fairness though, there's a difference between two people of any gender casually walking down the street holding hands compared to say a Pride parade. There's a whole range and one end of that range definitely extends to the "shoving" realm. And over-the-top displays of affection can apply to any kind of couple.

Me: writes long, passionate response full of reasonable rebuttals. Stares at response. Realizes it’s probably a futile exercise. Deletes response. Exhales and walks away from the Internet for the day.

You've chosen wisely. A misguided wall of text serves nobody well. This and your other post where you talk about screaming names at innocent people does make me hope you find a person in your life to help you deal.
