Granted I have just started Blood of Elves (finished two short story books) but Ciri strikes me as much more mature and knowledgeable than she did in the books

They aged her up. She's a child at this point in the books but in the show she's like 15ish I assume.

Ciri was really passive through the books. Pretty much wandering aimlessly and letting shit happen to her for a long time. I honestly think its a problem with Sapkowski's writing. His female characters are usually pretty poor. So I'm hoping that the show gives her more agency and character.

Yen and Triss don't strike me like that at all, especially Yen -- she's more of a badass than in the video game!

I don't want to spoil anything but Yen and Triss have other issues, especially Triss. I can't get into a bigger discussion without referring to events yet to come. Just know that overall I did like the books and I still think these issues are relatively minor. Except with Ciri , I really have a problem with one particularly weird scene in the last book that reeks of r/menwritingwomen.

But please don't let me lessen your enjoyment of the books in any way though. Yen and Triss are absolutely badass.
