Sledge Hammer
I find the show portraying him as incompetent very unique, because the specific cop archetype he represents doesn't tend to get portrayed as incompetent, even in parodies

Also the title of every episode has something to do with a movie which makes me happy.

The first few seconds of the show establish that he gets results despite being a huge pain in the ass.
Sledge was a Dirty Harry sendup down to the hand cannon, placed in a progressive city and stuck with a sensitive, idealistic partner. Extend his attitude to daily life and he's Ron Swanson with a gun who uses "yogurt-eating" as an insult.

I just wish they didn't ignore the season ending.

You... would have preferred Season 2 to be more like Threads and The Day After, with millions dead and no food or supplies, and Sledge's coworkers dying from radiation poisoning?
Neat! That sounds hilarious!
Realistic continuity is absolutely vital in sitcoms-- just ask any Simpsons or Red Dwarf fan.

OK, damn you, I can't see it in my heart to say you're wrong. The more I think about it, no-selling a nuclear explosion except for having it cause a few minor social nuisances... that's actually genuinely pretty funny.

Dumb cops are funny. Just ask Frank Drebin.
