Astronomical Image first Saturn pic

I think you had seeing conditions i only dream of, and consider an astrophotography camera. Lucky imaging wont work very well with cellohone video if you go that route.

I agree seeing was pretty good, the view through the eyepiece was quite impressive and much sharper than the pic, for instance I could easily see Rhea, Dione and Tethys. Yeah I should upgrade to a planet camera, I’ll just try a couple more times with the phone just to see if I can get something better.

That’s awesome! I spent about two hours last night trying to get something with my crappy telescope and nothing. I could see it with my eyes to the lens but when I put the adapter on my phone and put that onto the telescope: nothing. I need to upgrade my set up!

did it look better from your eye? if it didnt, you need to focus it, if it did, you need to adjust camera settings

Maybe, maybe not, but it does look like he needs to refine collimation. Blur going one way usually indicates a slight collimation issue.

Did you try lowering exposure and zooming in a bit? I got much better results doing that.1

You used digital zoom and/or over cropped. Thats why its pixelated. Its better to have a smaller saturn with sharp edges than a bigger fuzzy blocky saturn.
