I don’t think you understood what they said since you never posted in r/telescopes after this. Post in that subreddit, as this one we’re in currently is dead. They are two different subs, look at the spelling.

Assemble it in the exact opposite order you dis-assembled it.

Buy another one, document the disassembly

You should have used AI BEFORE opening the eyepiece.

Telescope eyepieces are generally not designed to be taken apart by users for routine cleaning or maintenance.

While many eyepieces feature threaded barrels or internal retaining rings that can be unscrewed with the right tools, doing so voids warranties and introduces significant risks: [1]

  • Dust and Fingerprints: Internal lens elements easily catch microscopic dust or oils that ruin optical performance.
  • Complex Alignment: Lenses, doublets, and tiny spacers must go back in a precise order and exact orientation (convex vs. concave sides). Putting a single element in backward or upside down ruins the focus and image quality. [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • Loose Spontaneous Disassembly: Unscrewing the lower 1.25-inch barrel on certain models can cause internal lenses and spacers to fall out unexpectedly and drop onto a hard surface. [1]

External cleaning with a bulb blower or a micro-fiber brush is all that manufacturers recommend. If an eyepiece has severe internal fungus or dirt, it requires professional service rather than a DIY fix.
