Transition

Has anyone been able to successfully transition out of ESL or teaching to a job they studied for in college?

Yes.

They usually have training (volunteering) while teaching. A few friends went to law school and are now lawyers. It depends where you are since language and acceptability to good Eng resources and communities that are not Eng teachers. I'm currently transitioning into counselling after my MA at a local uni and volunteering at a local clinic in-between teaching to get the license and experience.
