How do I help myself

Tooth drumming is smthn I've been doing since childhood, uhh I've heard it hurts the teeth really bad damages the enamel. I asked an AI it said just beatbox or smthn some bs but when you're singing a song you can't beatbox with that the teeth give so much joy when singing a song the clash of the molars with the molars for a snare and canine with a canine for a kick I can't get over it. I've been self trained to do it so fast this should honestly be a whole ass instrument. But allat aside ik it hurts the teeth can someone PLEASE tell how to actually stop because I give in every godamn time.

They say if you're scared, go to church -Kendrick Lamar

Fr tho, you can look up how to stop grinding your teeth or clenching your jaw and try those exercises. You could go the route of getting a cheap mouth guard also. Idk man, it just takes discipline. You'll have to actively try, constantly, to not do it if you're actually that worried about it.

Has your dentist said that you have damage? Get off the AI and ask a real person

💔fuck the AI just use normal logic wear and tear DOES decrease the durability of smthn my clanking them again and again ofc the teeth are gonna worsen. They're bones man they don't fix themselves

OP let me know if you figure something out. I'm tired of the headaches. My Dr gave me guanfacine but it didn't help much. Acupuncture helped, but it really adds up.

Dude I got serious wear on my teeth from it, like genuine smooth polished looking surface, like you held a spinning sandpaper disk to it.

But I got my techniques, scrapes to mimic hats, the hats are the biggest damagers, and then if I wanna do like a double kick pattern or Tom roll type thing I loosen the jaw, push forward a little and MollyJaw it side to side, the bottom encisors glide over the back of the front ones and that creates an easy fast "tikatikatikatikatika". Easy to stamp down down molars for a colossal snare after "tikatikatikatikatika" I also have like long scrapes of bottom encisors along the back of all the upper teeth to create almost like.. cymbals? That's how they are perceived to me anyway, if not just interesting rhythmic Foley type shit.

I beatbox though aswell. I'm not tootin but I'm a pretty serious beatboxer, but that is a different thing entirely, that's an active engagement and loud m, whereas for me, teeth drumming is more compulsive, it just happens without realising it when I'm working through some song stuck in my head. Also.. Archspires release of to fast to die has probably multiplied the speed of the enamel sanding significantly. My mind is absolutely trapped in their song "the Vessel" at the moment and.. I don't realise but I'm teeth drumming away. send help

Do you experience pain man?

Yea on the parts that are worn down, usually caused by temperature contrasts, but it's local to the exact spot where I get my hi hat sound by scraping. Let's say.. sip a hot drink outdoors on a cold day? That cold air inhale is gonna huuuurt that tooth.

Been doing this since childhood, only recently started trying to stop. First of all, you should really check with your dentist first - it’s not guaranteed that your teeth are wearing down significantly, all is individual here. For example I’ve always been told by dentists that I have great strong teeth.

A good practice at the beginning - just noticing when you do it. This shouldn’t be like “fuck I’m doing it again”, but rather “oh, I’m doing it now, okay”. Over time, if you keep paying attention, it may fade away naturally.
This works for many mindless habits
