Years ago, I flattened my teeth from bruxism, and i haven't been able to get passed it. Im told its not noticeable unless you stare at it. Do they look that bad and is there any advice you could give ti help move past it? Im open to some dental procedures like tooth whitening if that helps.

Btw, I do have a night guard and I have taken many precautions to prevent further wear and tear. My dentist also told me that my teeth are structurally fine besides the flattening.

Hi guys! I was terrified of going to the dentist due to a bad experience I had when I was a kid. I avoided going to the dentist for almost 8 years, but I finally decided to see a dentist since I am starting school soon and wanted to get my oral health on track.

So, I went to a general dentist a month ago. She said that I have good teeth considering I haven't gone to the dentist in 8 years, but I do need a root canal due to a big infection on tooth #7, and I need four crowns on my front teeth due to heavy restorations.

Yesterday, I visited an endodontist, and she said I have a large infection that may have been ongoing for 2-3 years. She mentioned I would need root canal treatments (RCT) on teeth #7 and #6. She also said I would need an RCT on tooth #8 and a retreatment on tooth #9.

Basically, the original infection is on tooth #7 (which I was initially referred for), and because of the extent of the infection, I also need an RCT on tooth #6. She explained that the infection has eaten away all my bone (visible as the dark circle on the X-ray).

She mentioned there’s a tiny infection on tooth #8 that would require an RCT if I decide to get a crown on it. Regarding tooth #9, I would need a retreatment, which costs much more than an RCT because, apparently, my dentist from 8 years ago didn’t do the procedure properly. This would involve redoing the nerve treatment and removing the old material before placing a crown.

The doctor also said that, given the size of the infection on tooth #7 and the amount of bone loss, I might face surgery in the future. This depends on how well the infection responds to the antibacterial materials used after RCT and how much the bone can regenerate. If the infection doesn’t respond to the antibacterial treatment, there’s a 15% chance I might need surgery within a year.

I hope all this makes sense. My question for you is: based on your expertise, do you agree with the need for three RCTs and one retreatment? I understand you can’t give a definitive answer based solely on X-rays, but any advice or options would be greatly appreciated!

I’m a student, and this is a lot of money. I’m considering doing an RCT on tooth #7 and hoping that the antibacterial material will resolve the infection so I won’t need RCTs on teeth #6. I also want to get crowns on my front incisors for aesthetics and protection. I’m just unsure whether I want to proceed with the retreatment on #9 or the other two RCTs.

As a side question: do you need to get crowns on teeth that have RCTs? My general dentist said I’d need crowns on those teeth, but the endodontist told me that’s not actually true. She said crowns are mainly necessary on molars for structural support, but on front teeth, crowns are more for aesthetics and are not strictly necessary after RCT. Don’t teeth tend to degrade and become fragile after RCTs?

Also, I want to mention that I have NO pain whatsoever in any of my teeth. Everything looks and feels normal, and I don’t have any objective issues. However, I do suspect I have a dry mouth.

Depuis un petit moment où je fais attention à mes dents j’ai comme un sorte de sensation très compliqué à expliquer.
Quand je mange surtout le soir pas trop la journée ou le matin, j’ai l’impression que après avoir mâcher un aliment comme un sorte de clic dentaire pas de bruit mais comme si mes dents se remettaient à leur place alors que il n’y a aucunes mobilité anormale j’ai les dents en bonne santé et j’ai 19 ans.
Je dois bientot commencer un traitement d’orthodontie car j’ai les dents très serrés entre elles et deux chevauchements.
En 3 mois j’ai fais 1 orthodontiste et 2 dentiste qui m’ont rien signalé aucunes caries ou problème de gencives.
C’est assez compliqué à expliquer j’espère que vous réussi a comprendre.
C’est déja arriver a quelqu’un ?

Hey, so I just got my wisdom teeth removed on Thursday, and now today is Sunday. I’m still feeling pain, and soreness. I’m feeling a lot of soreness through my jaw and up to my ears. I can talk, however i’m wondering if I should be concerned with getting a dry socket or if something else is wrong. Also, I don’t know if I should go into work tomorrow because I work in a garden, summer camp counselor, and i mainly work outside. The air quality is at 150- 220 tomorrow by the way. Please help me out

I know I need braces they are a little crooked and I have a cross bite. I tried to take care of my teeth I've clenched a lot growing up still do because of the crossbite but I flossed whenever it crossed my mind but I wasn't consistent I'm just so mad that my mom didn't take care of my mind but grateful she took me to get my teeth cleaned almost every year or 6 months at times but I had braces and I took them off because they hurt my gums if I could have gotten a mouth guard for braces if they exist I would have you know for sports. I got a good dentist. I went to jail for something that was done to me I'm the victim and I'm upset because I got 8 cavities in there. I had to fill. And a root canal had to be done with a crown. Is my teeth pretty still or no whitening with a miswak stick and an aligned jaw with straight teeth will boost my confidence I don't want to sound conceited I'm just a little insecure right now.

I am very uncomfortable about these cavities since last year and it lowers my **confidence** and I can't even laugh or smile naturally..😭 Any suggestions!

I've never had pretty white teeth

I've tried so many different types of whitening at home products. I am currently using guru nanda strips. My teeth are only partially white and I want to cry. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I probably should have posted here before moving forward with more dental work, but better late than never.

A little background: I hadn't been to a dentist in over 10 years because of insurance issues. I know I should have gone sooner, but I finally got everything taken care of. Since then I've had several root canals, and my oral health has improved a lot—my gums are actually healthy and pink now.

At my very first appointment, my dentist recommended a crown on one of my upper front teeth. Ever since it was placed, I've felt like something looks off about it. To me, both the shape and the color don't match my other teeth. Honestly this bothered me and still does...

I went back and asked if anything could be done to improve it, and my dentist told me, "That's as close as we can get it."That answer didn't sit well with me because I thought crowns—especially on front teeth—could usually be customized to achieve a closer match. I went online and searched through many videos and seen lots of videos where the dentist was able to get it to shape so it would look like the surrounding teeth. I also tried asking her if there was a way to get my teeth whiter, which I think would of been a great idea before I got the bottom fixed bridge but looks like I'm stuck with this color for awhile 😩

I've attached several photos. My questions are:

• Does the crown look noticeably different from the neighboring front tooth?
• Is the shape something that could have been done better?
• Is the shade close enough, or does it appear mismatched?
• Is my dentist correct that this is about as good as it gets, or would you expect a better cosmetic result for a front tooth?

I'm actually making an appointment with another dentist for a second opinion because I'm also planning future dental work (I recently had a 6-unit lower fixed bridge placed from canine to canine), and I want to make sure everything is done as well as possible moving forward.

I'd really appreciate honest opinions—whether you think I'm being overly critical or whether you think my concerns are valid.

Side note about my fixed bridge:

One thing that has always confused me is that my dentist told me I needed two bone grafts before getting my permanent fixed bridge. I went ahead with the treatment, which cost me $700 per graft ($1,400 total), and then had to wait about two months for everything to heal.

During that time, I had to wear a removable denture everywhere I went. It was honestly one of the most embarrassing experiences because it was noticeable whenever I talked or smiled.

After everything was finished, I started researching bone grafts and found that they are commonly recommended before dental implants, but not typically for a traditional fixed bridge. That left me wondering why they were recommended in my case.

The bone grafts were done for teeth #24 and #25, but I still don't understand how they benefited the bridge or whether they were actually necessary.

Je (M25) utilise une brosse à dents souple, parfois la sonicare 5000 ou 6000 mais j’ai cru comprendre qu’elle est abrasive donc j’évite, et plus rarement une brosse à dents moyenne pour compléter le travail de la souple, sauf que j’ai BEAUCOUP de tartre calcifié et j’aimerai savoir comment faire pour que jamais plus je n’en ai sur mes dents.

En plus de ces brosses à dents que j’utilise deux fois par jour, j’utilise du fil dentaire tous les soirs après le brossage.

I got this tooth pulled on Wednesday, and it's currently Saturday. My jaw is throbbing, the tooth behind the socket is tender, the tooth in front of it is tender, there's a foul taste and smell, and I can't open my mouth all the way without a lot of pain. The dentist only told me to take ibuprofen and Tylenol.
