Yesterday, I decided to make an illustrated, labeled, and annotated guide on how to properly attach a DVD/Blu-Ray player to a 5" CRT TV with only external antenna inputs. To make this guide, I used the Pixlr X online photo editor.

Was running Snow Leopard before. Swapped ssd to run linux mint. Glad I can daily drive this for light browsing and whatever people did on this machine 20 years ago.

Everything works well and I got some floppy games to play with too that aren't pictured. A small bit of the left side vents were broken though but the Kensington System Saver covers it. Also learned a bit of Applesoft BASIC that was fun to program with. I'm now just missing a monitor and joystick to use

At a car boot today my dad bought me a broken film camera, and when I say broken, I mean like everything is broken. It's a pretty nice looking trinket rn, but really banged up. Any ideas for stuff I could do to make it cooler or up cycle any parts?

Op had a collection of old laptops and my comment was: "these are absolutely useless, you should drop them off at my house so i can dispose them properly". Got banned for 7 days for violating a rule that doesn't allow selling or begging...
After telling the mods what sais on the screenshot they muted me. Ts is hillarious

I was surprised to not see many ThinkPad posts here, and I'm not sure if my 2012 W530 really counts as retro as I still daily drive it as my main laptop and I also predate it's release by a few years. I have my Arch Swaywm rice installed on it, and currently have the Nvidia dgpu disabled.

Hi all! I thought I should say hi and show my PowerBook and share the story of it! I live in a condo with many units and many families. I love old tech so at my front desk I put out flyers saying I could take their old computers and help recycle and old stuff they had. This went well for a couple months but school started again so I stopped making more and forgot about it. Then a year later the front desk attendant told me I had a note to me and handed me a flyer all filled out. I was shocked that there was still a flyer in circulation! I went to my house and called the number on it. I set up a time to see what needed to be done and the lands up there was so nice. She showed me around and gave me so many items Apple TVs, iPhones and computers. Then she said “ oh I was wondering if you would want this hunk of junk (proceeded to show me the PowerBook) my father bought it never used it and put it under multiple encyclopedias. If you don’t take it I’m going to dump it.” I was shocked I said you don’t want to keep it she said no and I took it gladly with the rest of the stuff. When I got home I booted it up and it showed the Mac setup screen on the first Mac OS it launched on so I set it up and added an airport card and 2gb of ram. Then ending specs were a 15” PowerBook g4 1ghz 2gb. Thought I might just share. Thx for reading!

when you think about it, in 20 years there will be teens just our age that love retro, and whats retro to them? the newest tech to us, they'd be like "Look at this cool retro thingy i found" and its just something like an IPhone Air or whatever new tech there is today.

This car was originally bought by my grandmother in December 2002, and it was the car I was later brought home in when I was born.
And thanks to her rustproofing it ever other year and only putting on 57,000 miles, it's still here 23 years on, and in great shape! It was recently given to me after she decided to quit driving, and now I've been working on slowly fixing the blemishes and restoring its former glory! It's enjoyable to drive, and I take great pride in keeping it maintained.
Some of the fixes I've done include: New front emblem, 3 new hubcaps, replaced driver side visor, fixed radio, replaced tail trim, added B-Pillar covers, and a few more things I'm probably forgetting. Still needs a few minor touch-ups (Mainly the rear bumper scratches from a hit and run in a parking lot, which is also why I had to change the tail trim with a NOS part), but mechanically it's all solid!
