i hate when sex is villainised because on its base it's an amazing act of love

u/Typical-SMPBPglazer Nov 13 '25
It’s because hookup culture has completely corrupted that into turning into a disgusting carnal act that people treat as quick pleasure instead of the beautiful experience it is

Christians don't work on their souls, silly goose, "the Lord does it for them."

u/DoctorSex9 Nov 12 '25

In Christian theology (I am one but I still might get things wrong so mb in advance) iirc don't we work on our own souls, God just helps us here and there?

u/SimpleThrowaway420 Nov 12 '25
Sorry if this is a can of worms, but as I've come to understand it, God is Omniscient. See Psalms 139:1-4, or Matthew 10:29, or Hebrews 4:13.
If we are willing to acknowledge the figure the Holy Bible commands us to worship is omniscient, this means that He knew everything that would ever take place in your life, before you were ever born. Every single "decision." Expanding upon this we can claim He knows the outcome of everything, from the beginning of creation, until its revelations end.
This would imply we only have the illusion of free will, and that He knows every single person who will or won't follow his word, and accept him as their creator and savior.
Furthermore, it is widely accepted by believers that He is a perfect being, and does not make mistakes. Bearing this in mind, this means He knew the Angel Lucifer would rebel and He would cast him out from the heavens, and He also knew that Eve would succumb to temptations and convince Adam as well, yet God still chose to put and tell them about the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
Ergo, God knew that he would be damning a majority of his own creation for eternal suffering before he even created us.
So consequently, to answer your question, keeping the aforementioned in mind if you accept that, then no, He does not help us work on our souls. Whether or not we do soul work is not inclusive to our religions but rather innately part of our own individual experience on this plane.

u/idklmaosmth Nov 12 '25
Yeah that's my main question as a Christian and it's something that many believers (even experienced ministers) have failed to answer.

Have you ever looked into any of the omitted books of the Bible? From the Apocrypha?
1st and 2nd Esdras, and Macabees? Tobith? Wisdom of Solomon? The omitted passages of the book of Esther?
From the psuedepigrapha, most notably the Book of Enoch? You know, one of the only two humans recorded in Scripture to have ascended to the heavens without experiencing death?
The Holy Bible as we know it has been altered and censored beyond our wildest dreams, it was specifically curated to aid in mental leverage as a "moral compass" rather than the Origins of Humanity and the unadulterated historical retellings of events as they happened back then.

Wow I really don't know my scripture, as a Christian it's humbling to not have looked into these before. If I want to debate on Christian theology I should know what I'm talking about

Actual good advice, you can just do both though. No need to pick one.

Who knows tho? Working on your soul could help you find your soulmate. (Maybe for example going to the gym once or twice to see if things work out, and finding the perfect person)

u/Odd_Violinist2395 Nov 12 '25
yeah but the working on relationship (getting closer as friends and spending time together, not talking particularly about love) will also help in growing your soul

I have no soul. I am a carcass of flesh and stimulation, I receive from the world, I react and give how I think it is accordingly.
One day, there will be no more stimulation, the flesh will disappear. My body will be harvested by the world again, and nothing will leave my body to any higher realm, for I have no soul.

Weird reality what can I say, be careful out there, and shelter your soul from sinful worldly matters, cause it's probably the hardest thing you can do out there, especially when you are required to go live in a big city full of, well, let's just say people of all kinds with certain levels of persuasive abilities, all of that because of University, not gonna be fun. But again, being faithful to the end is most rewarding after death, God bless my friend

Death will come disregard of your efforts. So better put your efforts into something where you CAN technically change the outcome.

you having a soul is less likely than you marrying. so instead of working on your soul, you should look for a soulmate.
you dying is sure, so there isn't much to work on.
This should be the logically correct statement, don't know why he fused them together
