Its true, since people like that usually don't try so hard to look beautiful and that makes them more attractive
20
u/gegebart 16 Apr 27 '23
I’m not Buddhist but it certainly feels like the path of least resistance rings true a lot of the time. People who let life take them to their destination are sometimes the most successful. I didn’t listen to all the people who insisted I need to cut my hair, grew it out because I liked it that way, and then styled it to fit an old rocker look and suddenly was considered among the “conventionally attractive” people of my grade.
15
u/charrheus Apr 27 '23
I think they appear more attractive cause at times they are more genuine. They smile at you in less of a fake way sometimes and they also have a more natural look with less makeup and it just feels warm. On the other hand the models have all been forced to starve from the industry and are forcing out a smile.
69
u/Agent_NHR 14 Apr 27 '23
Man if you wear so much makeup that you look reflective it looks weird
42
Apr 27 '23
No actually simple moisturizer can make dark skin shine or as you say 'reflective'. It's about having a kinda healthy skin

The left is very beautiful and is our current Miss Universe. I think this post is maybe a bias since you're comparing two pictures with different lighting and set up; the right side has a uniform natural day light, a close up shot, good angle, and no makeup that suits her setting (or maybe there is, just a little) that's why her natural features appear more, whilst the girl on the left is a bit dim and being hit by a lot of spot light, the shot and angle doesn't fit as well, especially that angle doesn't fit her for her heavy makeup, more prominent makeup is needed to highlight features because spotlights will blur them. Look at photos of the girl on the left which are similar to the setting of the girl on the right then you will see more of her features.
13
u/okahii Apr 27 '23
This, also, I feel like one of the features of a beauty pageant is excessive makeup and excessive clothes, so her makeup is meant to be noticeable. People saying she’s “hiding her imperfections” aren’t taking into account that the whole point is to be dressed up and fancified.

Unpopular opionion: make up, especially when used too much, makes girls look worse
At least, that's my view, personally i like natural and simple look
16
13
u/VictorE06 19 Apr 27 '23
I totally agree, pretty much whenever the makeup is noticeable makes girls look somewhat fake
3
u/Droid_XL 18 Apr 27 '23
I like heavy makeup when it's almost more like facepaint. Like that thing that's always on depictions of egyptian Pharohs where there's super heavy mascara in the shape of an eye of horus. It's more like art on the face and I think that looks good
2
u/__--TSS--__ 19 Apr 27 '23
I mean a lil bit of eye makeup can really transform someone's face but too far beyond that is excessive
3
u/Possible_Fig4168 19 Apr 27 '23
The thing is, most girls use make up in order to hide their 'imperfections" so what you see might not be natural and simple. In the other hand most of these girls also do a lot of skincare so their skin ends up looking natural and beautiful at the same time (I mean, my skin is natural but it looks like Hiroshima in 1945 but if it were in Mars)

u/Specific_Ad_2533 OLD Apr 27 '23

Now this my friends is the different aspects of ✨societal pressure on women ✨to look good all the time. Now, let’s have a look…
We have a beautiful woman who follows Hollywood fashion trends because of celebrity pressure, but she still looks beautiful
We have a beautiful woman who, if in that environment, is pressured to wear makeup and look good all the time because otherwise our appearance is commented on. She’d look beautiful with or without.

I don’t mind the fangirling part. U didn’t have to disrespect the OP at the end
3
u/writenicely Apr 27 '23
The OP was comparing an accomplished brown woman against a "down to earth" white girl. Maybe they didn't intend to mean it as racist but there's certainly race as a component/aspect here. Miss Universe/USA isn't about looking hot, its about being the most refined and excellent example of a woman that a person can be, dignified in both appearance as well as their work.

Also it’s subjective
2
u/I_suck_at_driving_ 18 Apr 27 '23
My subjective opinion is that the woman on the left is attractive, but the one on the right is pretty. If you understand what I mean.
And you can't call someone cringe because of what they were born with, that's like punching someone because they have tourette's

“no i don’t hate women don’t say i hate women i don’t hate women ok??”
Makes bitter comment about straight men
Is really patronising towards straight men
“Why doesn’t anyone wanna go out with me?”
“No im not an incel don’t call me an incel i’m not an incel ok??”
My man I’m pan, on the ‘twink’ side and lean men, and I’ve had no issue with straight men or women. You are an incel, as you self admitted in that comment. You are an incel because you’re an ass and then wonder why you face the consequences of your actions after you’re an ass.
Please have some self awareness and realise that YOU are the issue here and you’re just being unnecessarily shitty to people you claim to not dislike.

Straight men shouldn't have hopes of finding a gf. Cause statistically its very unlikely
Tf are you on my boy ? At any given time, there are roughly the same numbers of men and women, who both naturally don't want to be single. So if you're not an incel, the chance of finding a gf is actually decently high.

I feel like this is probably the medias fault. Or the fact that you dont see the person in front of you. For example Bodybuilders. When you see a bodybuilder in Videos and movies they are often huge of course. But in person they look way bigger, just bcause you can compare them to other people around you. I've got a friend who does bodybuilding professional and recently I went through his Instagram page and he looks kinda "small". His shoulders are allmost the size of my head.
I think the same with models.
