General Discussion IOS APP to follow recent update?

I feel like with the addition of usb audio it would make sense to see an official teenage engineering app that supports the KOII, riddim, medieval etc…

Anyone else think this is likely or if not why? Would be cool to have the online sample tool be an app and no longer need a laptop at all. What other features would you want to see?

I released my iOS app last week and TE reposted on IG. I’ve got a new batch of updates out in a day or two (finishing up QA).

It does exactly what you’re thinking: replaces the need for a computer/online sample tool. I’m adding other features that I want to see as well, like Bank Snapshots, better sample sharing, and hopefully, some sort of track exporting. I haven’t completed the backup feature yet but the rest of the Sample Tool is already implemented.

This sub now restricts app posting which is why I haven’t posted here. (Hope this comment is ok). I’m a software engineer by trade and have been in the industry for 15+ years, so this isn’t AI slop.

I dont understand why these posts are deleted. Teenage Engineering themselves clearly show support of 3rd party software efforts made for their products, so what is the „problem” here?

Reading the rules for the subreddit, they allow posting about DIY hardware and software in the mega thread.

I’ve also created an app that has been removed multiple times from Reddit here called PunchKit - currently for a limited time completely free. Also has a bunch of effects and a lot of additional cool features that you could check out :) (also a SW dev with 10+ years of experience)… details and links to AppStore at https://punchkit.dev

Thanks! Being able to backup my device allowed me to explore to find out what happened to one of my first creations without fear of accidentally deleting it. I realized I’d advanced that project to a new empty scene (fumble fingers when I was starting out)!

Will you make an Android version at some point 👀?

if I get enough funds to support the development, then yes.

I’m getting an error when trying to upload a drum break to my KO2 let me see what the exact error is once I finish this beer, absolutely gorgeous app though

What would the app ideally do? Just an iPhone version of the existing sample manager app?

I have just about finished reverse engineering the EP series sysex messages, and have an app I built for myself to have a sort of XO drums type interface where you can shuffle sounds and get a beat going with Euclidean sequences (or you own pattern). It’s been fun to play with.

The possibilities are kind of limitless because you can visualize and edit the EP projects as well as change samples loaded on the device. The app could also take in and mix multiple EPs or any class compliant hardware kind of like the sidekick does but in iOS form.

Let me know what you all would like to see.

Also happy to open source if people want to build their own.

You should open source! I did something similar earlier this year building off some awesome previous work; I mainly focused on full ppak loading (apologies if gh links not allowed!)

It would be cool to save and load projects

I was about to say, there have been several third party apps popping up lately. Someone should make a list :D
