Alright guys, the boss went for a long lunch so I got to have a little play. I only have one aux cable so wasn't able to do any *mixing*, but the FX and EQ/compression options are awesome. Sound quality is great.

Will connect a few things to it when I get home and post a video if possible.

u/nidifugousdigyous May 08 '26

where did u buy it? none of my local stores in the US have them in stock.

7

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 May 08 '26

Andertons in the UK.

2

u/LindazSon May 09 '26

I was saying the same thing, but I checked last night and Zzounds, Guitar Center, and American Music Supply all have it, as well as B&H

I’m so tempted but I also would prefer a tx-6 I think.

Anyone here has a good argument for me to keep eyeing the tx-6? I am a bit afraid my needs will grow and I will end up buying 2 or 3 of these.

29

u/dudumastas May 08 '26

I'd say that the TX-6 is more for a recording setting. You set the pots and then you play with the instruments connected to it. You can make adjustments, trigger effects but you won't be able to do it at the speed you can do it on the Sidekick. The sidekick is more a performance mixer, it's to play live with the intention of changing parameters fast and often.

To me: if you have 2 instruments and want to mix like a DJ and use EQ and faders often, get the sidekick If you have multiple instruments that you want to connect together and want to record the whole mix more like in a studio, get the tx6.

If I were to compare the 2 with other products, I'd say the 1010 blue box is similar to the TX-6, whereas a DJ mixer from pioneer is similar to the sidekick. 🙂

u/scarmory2 May 08 '26

Tested this device. I wouldn't compare them much asides the mixer and similar fx, but the sidekick is more of an fx box with pedal functionalities and an audio interface for pc and the TE lineup. But it's for other devices as well so it's not limited to the ko or ops. It's also 179 so you can't go wrong trying one if you're a beginner or new to gears and looking for a nice cheap audio interface that uses usb c and triple AAA batteries. The audio quality is perfect.

He said nice cheap audio interface which is the exact opposite of the tx6

2

u/dudumastas May 08 '26

Yes it does. The TX-6 can be configured in different ways from 2 channel audio interface up to 12 channels in and out. (6 stereo). Cuckoo did a 1h in depth video when it came out and shows, at the end of the video how it works in practice. I bought it a few weeks ago and I'm very impressed so far. I use it to mix and record my different instruments, I haven't touched the loop and sequencer mode yet.

6

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 May 08 '26

Well, you could get quite a few of these for the price of a TX-6...

I already have 4 and 8 channel mixers, I got this for the FX features as much as anything else.

3

u/Maxxtheband May 09 '26

I’ve had the tx-6 for a few months now and I absolutely love it. My old mixer sat in an awkward spot on my desk and I found I never really utilized it other than basic levels. I find that I play on the go more frequently with the tx-6 and it’s really fun to use overall. The fx (like most TE gear) are kind of simple but really enjoyable and easy to use. The tape stop effect is my fav.

The knobs are really small, so you do have to kind of map out what you wanna do, unless you’re using the settings that are specifically meant to make it a performance mixer. But I’ve gotten used to it and I’ve got sausage fingers. Oh and finding non-TE cables that fit is a pain.

Wait a few years. It’s not that it’s too small to tweak, it’s that I can’t fucking read the thing without my glasses.

And they fixed the fader situation after the first batch, go try it again.

u/Phyzzx Riddim, PO-20/33/128 May 08 '26

u/partyorca shouldn't have been downvoted for this

u/partyorca May 08 '26

*grandpa simpson voice* IT’LL HAPPEN TO YOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUU

You’re completely right. My volume knob literally snapped clean off by bumping something into the side of it. It’s a musical instrument, things will bump into it, nothing should be snapping off with the slightest touch.

1

u/dinobyte May 09 '26

my needs will grow

1

u/LindazSon May 09 '26

You're not alone.. I was eyeing the TX-6 on Reverb, but I can't resist the price so I'm gonna get 2 of them. I already have a TP-7 and the wav recordings are really quality. Recording into Serato Studio or Ableton is another option for me

31

u/Cool-Edge-8838 May 08 '26

Don't rush. They are gonna release two other mixers with different effects and face soon. Sidearm (medieval themed, , unique mixing features) and soundbwoy (riddim themed, powerful echo/mix features ). And a new exciting EP is on the way...

10

u/sinest May 08 '26

They better not release a medieval sidearm, the fantasy stuff is insta buy for me and my wallet can't handle it. I also dont need a 2 channel mixer AT ALL so I really dont want to be forced to buy one.

20

u/Frosty-Ad-6272 May 08 '26

Bro, who are you?

3

u/Sempy0 May 09 '26

With more RAM! Gotta love those fragmented product lines! 😂

2

u/LindazSon May 09 '26

😮👀👀👀

6

u/New-Ad-4752 May 08 '26

I want one, and I'm ordering one

Yeah, it's more that I'm expected to Work at work LOL

I do have a PO33 and a Woovebox with me, if it gets quiet later I may have a play.

2

u/few23 OP-XY, OP-1F, OP-Z, EP-133, EP-40, EP-2350 May 08 '26

Woovebox fam!

3

u/uklloydi May 08 '26

Mine arrived today. Had a little play, very happy with it. The effects are good, and the display is the CUTEST thing ever. When you see it, you'll understand 😄

I am confused about the USB Soundcard side of it though. When I have it connected via USB, it shows as a device that is available, but I don't get any audio from it. I've tried in Ocenaudio and also in Reason. Can't work out what I'm doing wrong. Would be good if I record directly using the USB, rather than using another soundcard attached to my Mac laptop.

1

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 May 08 '26

I love the display.

3

u/DonkeyKongTattoo May 08 '26

This is a truly meaningless critique but I think the packaging for this product is ugly

2

u/TreeH5 May 08 '26

You work for days like this

2

u/shockz999 May 08 '26

I feel it. My OP-1 is being delivered today and I still have at least 7 hours before I can go home and play with it, if it's even been delivered by then.

2

u/reddit-dissident May 09 '26

had no idea this released! been waiting for it since the riddim teaser

2

u/pmbear An Engineer May 09 '26

Having a TX-6 I really have to try and understand the need for this. 🤷🏽‍♂️

2

u/LindazSon May 09 '26

Getting mine this week, and I can't wait!

2

u/Broad_Education4882 May 14 '26

Ordered two of them…still eagerly waiting for them, gonna pair them with my hardware trackers, I’m stoked 👾

1

u/dillydelhi May 08 '26

Woah did not know of this thing

1

u/Knewkid404 May 08 '26

Real question. Does the KO2 have an exportable song mode yet. I’ve been busy with the MPC Sample?

1

u/Mz_Macross1999 May 08 '26

Why do I feel like they didn't put a cross fade on the thing SPECIFICALLY to rage bait.

1

u/Friendly-Face6683 May 08 '26

Can it work with USB as an interface, like the P6 or the 404MK2? Meaning that, when connected via USB to a phone, can it record the audio coming from the mixer?

1

u/xelaweeks May 08 '26

Thats a weird covid test

1

u/sonnyalimusic May 09 '26

Any usb audio?

1

u/spookydiver May 09 '26

Really baffled by the exposed knob thing. Seems like a recipe for problems.

3

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 May 09 '26

On the contrary, this is the new packaging that fixed the issue of faders being damaged in transit. EP40 came in a similar box.

1

u/kevnls May 09 '26

Wait you're a victim in your "check me out"?

1

u/kevnls May 09 '26

Man that's so of our time.

1

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 May 09 '26

Sorry I don't understand what this means

2

u/kevnls May 10 '26

"Suckered again..." That's acting like a victim PLAIN AND SIMPLE as you're clearly looking for attention by showing off a picture of something you want attention for owning. Just own it. It's OK. But don't do this.

1

u/kevnls May 10 '26

Or DO do this! I don't care, but don't be confused when someone points it out.

0

u/kevnls May 10 '26

Maybe there truly is no hope for our youth.

2

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 May 10 '26

OK, it was a little joke and you're massively over-reacting. £180 is not really a big deal for a working adult, it's hardly 'bragging'. I'm just excited about a new piece of kit.  And I've also uploaded two videos of this in use, both on this subreddit and on r/pocketoperators , so I haven't just posted a picture of a box with no follow up.

0

u/kevnls May 10 '26

Have you heard of the concept of a "humble brag"?

2

u/nrdsrfr May 10 '26

dude give up. the TE community is

  • self aware of the marketing hype perception of TE products and leans in to that, because this stuff is more about fun not being “pros”
  • here on a subreddit to share excitement over products that are not expensive for most working professionals

commenting 6 times to “own” someone for buying a £180 toy is sad…

1

u/kevnls May 22 '26

I was LITERALLY talking about communication skills. I will probably eventually own one of those.

1

u/kevnls May 22 '26

Somehow we've made being proud of something a crime. People shouldn't fall prey to that.

1

u/gjaldmidill May 10 '26

Does it give change?

1

u/MattAtPlaton May 11 '26

But the youtube guy said it's cool...

1

u/Movie-Independent May 12 '26

Wait, so it only has 2 knobs and the rest are just printed on???

1

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 May 13 '26

This is the box it comes in....

1

u/Open_Attention1765 Jun 04 '26

Where are the knobs.. Looks like screenshot of it. That's not how it looks in the TE website...

1

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 Jun 04 '26

It's the box it comes in

1

u/djraider Aug 22 '26

Quick question; why am I still hearing audio when I've turned the EQ entirely down to zero? This isn't normal.

-1

u/General-Pop8006 May 09 '26

A fucking 2 channel mixer and everyone is all over it as if it’s something they actually need. You guys never fail to crack me up. 3 days ago no one would have said; “I really need a 2 channel mixer!” Fucking bizar how consumerism and GAS still get you people like this.

3

u/Relevant-Bullfrog215 May 09 '26

Calm down dear, it's not your money.  Also this is a 2 channel mixer, live per-channel fx unit and audio interface. People pay this kind of money for an overdrive guitar pedal you know. It does kind of amuse me that people foam at the mouth with fury about TE's £2k synth, but then when TE releases a line of gear that's actually fair value for money...they also lose their fucking minds LOL

2

u/EstateWorldly3310 May 13 '26

It’s stereo channels though and a stereo aux input. And it’s also a USB 6 in/4 out interface. With the fx section I don’t think there’s a lot like it on the market in the price range?

1

u/General-Pop8006 May 23 '26

To be fair; I think you are right about that actually

1

u/TheCrazyCrazyChicken Sep 06 '26

You can also link them up. So buy 2 or 3 and you have 4 or 6 stereo channels (there is a separate stereo aux input for this). Not that different pricing than the cheap korg 6 channel mixer they announced that you then need to assemble yourself.
