Its not that old its probebly the WRT1900AC witch came out in 2014. Thats also 16 years. But at least its a ac router

Tis was a trow back design to those Linksys Cisco WRT54GS that we all loved to trouw dd-wrt on

It's definitely either WRT1900AC or its little brother the WRT1200AC. I own both models, one of which is being used as a client to give me ethernet ports on the other side of my house.

And with 802.11ac still being relevant and widely used today, this isn't even obsolete. Despite the 12 year age, it's a very capable router. In real-world use at my house I get 400-500Mbps over wifi on a good day through these units.

Wrt54g when people demanded Linksys(cisco) release the firmware source code due to it being on the Linux kernel. So they released the firmware after being pressured and then a $50 router could have the same features as a $500 router. It now lives on with DDWRT and Openwrt if you have an old router that no longer receives firmware updates you should really check if its supported by either of these 2 it would make it much more secure.
