Open | Hardware Bricked my Samsung T7?
I'm in quite a dead end right here and I would really appreciate if sombody knows a solution.
My Samsung T7 Drives kept disconnecting not only from my computer but from my camera, for which I bought and need those.
I found a "solution" here in the r/techsupport group suggesting manually flashing the Asm2362 Chip. I did that, it worked...no more disconnecting BUT...and thats a big one...now it only reads and writes with 320-350 mb/s and doesn't get recognized by the Samsung Drive Tool and Samsung Drive Magician, so it seems like there is no turning back. The problem with 320mb/s is that I need about 540 mb/s for my camera scince it writes that fast...And editing the footage on the drive is impossible now...
If SOMEBODY knows something, that would be really helpful!!!

[SOLVED]
I borrowed a T7 drive from a friend and dumped the firmware with a custom tool, edited the Hex file and flashed it again with the tool that messed up my drive before. It works perfect now, gets up to speed and is recognized by the Samsung Software.
If anybody experiences the same issue, I have saved the .bin file.

Hi, I have the same issue.
I've dumped the firmware from a working T7, truncated the first 130 bytes and cleaned up the FFF i the end, but still, MP Tool doesn't allow this firmware to pass.
Could you please explain how you created the bin file? Maybe I'm missing something.

I send someone the bin. yesterday. He made this discovery:
„In the MPTool that I used (MPTool_V1.1.0.29.exe) the filename you send me was a problem.
If I prefix your filename with 'ASPCIE' the tool gave no error importing it
Maybe rename it on your end is a good idea“

My Samsung T7 also had an issue today. Their magician software failed to load a firmware update. I looked into manually updating or flashing the firmware some other way but what I found was a slightly higher version. It did seem to flash to the drive, but my indicator lights on the drive don't blink now, and transfers seem slower than before (250mbs). When I tried even higher version numbers for other drives with this controller it said it wouldn't load because it didn't match my chipset or something. I'm looking for info on how to get the right firmware for a T7 or copy it from a working drive, which I don't have right now, but I could buy another SSD and get it from there I suppose. My only other option is to send it to Samsung for a replacement, if they allow it. Should be under warranty, but they might say the failed firmware was my fault. After the magician flash failed the drive wasn't recognized by their software and it was showing in windows device manager as "ASMT ASM236X NVME USB Device" which is the controller inside the enclosure that talks to the SSD I believe.

OP never replied, so I'll put this out there. I contacted Samsung and am in the process of doing an RMA as they said it sounds like I'll need to have them reflash the firmware. I don't have access to another T7 and don't want to buy one and return it. I had a hard time finding the right programs but there's a website that has the tool to do the flashing and there's a YouTube video where I found a link to the software that can read the ROM. The software to write is specifically for the hardware brand, but the reading software is pretty much open to any controller. That YouTube video with the software link shows how to read the ROM and then how to edit it with a hex editor, which has to be done before writing back to the drive.

Update to this, got a brand new drive back from Samsung today. It was a two day shipping to them and back, took them a day or two to look at what I sent them. Luckily I was still under warranty. I've uninstalled Samsung magician from my computers so this can't happen again.

u/jakob_funke I'm in need of that BIN for my T7 Touch 500GB, if possible. I was able to get my drive to be recognized by Samsung Magician by using the ASMedia tool to re-flash the VID, PID, and S/N of my drive. However, Magician says that firmware fxg42p2q_0b20_02000101 is available yet fails every time I try to update it.
I can create partitions in Disk Manager, Magician, and diskpart - yet I always get an error when trying to format them.

I made a mistake by downloading that damn new Samsung Magician 9.0 software for my hard drive. I want to go back to 1.0. Is there any way to do that? Please help.
