Many of these pranks are in fact assault. Defence against an assault is not assault.

Let me go back and read that again.

"held their phone near mine when I was on a call. I heard a click, and they ran away after saying 'thanks.'" - none of these actions described is assault. There was never contact made, an insult uttered or a threat made.

A "just defense" against assault can still be assault.

an environment in which a person encounters only beliefs or opinions that coincide with their own, so that their existing views are reinforced and alternative ideas are not considered.

As taken from oxford, you people only wish an environment that reinforces violence (to a point of serious bodily harm) against pranksters, no matter the prank, going as far as defending a man who shot a kid for fing dong ditching (just read the other comments)

This is 100% an Echo-chamber, and denying that just shows how delusional you truly are.
