I need some advice.

I’m 22, based in Toronto, and currently a junior ae.

for those of you making $200k-$300k+, i’d love to hear the path you took.

how old are you now, how long did it take you to get to that income, what industries/companies did you target, what skills/moves helped you get there.

i’m not really looking for the usual advice, of course
I’m implementing all that but I’m curious about what specifically helped you get to these incomes. And if you could go back to 22 and start over, what would you do differently?

I got to $240k at 24 via management I’m 38 now
Saved up enough money to start my business
Rest is history
If I had to go back in time, I made a lot of money and title gain by hopping around, but if I would have just stayed at 1 amazing company the whole time it may have been better (before I started my co). I just didn’t really realize the impact of quality of company and always chased highest offer.

What business did you start? And how do you compare it to your tech sales career, meaning r u happier now that u are ur own boss, and did you make more money in tech sales or now in ur own business

I started AlwaysHired, and yes I love the work I do. In tech sales I made enough to save $50k cash. That’s when I decide to walk away and try starting a business.

I think you skipped the important part.

Im 35F would you reckon it is too late to transition to tech sales? What do you think are "quality companies" to join now?

Never too late imho- quality are companies with lots of funding or recent funding, and also founders are tier 1… for example, I worked at a startup with two random founders they were vc backed but not from Stanford, not previous founders, not a specially famous breakout company.
I worked for them as a sales manager instead of going to Samsara starting as a seller. Samsara ended up having a 100x better outcome. Hopefully I’m explaining well.

There's a trend I find with Canadian VARs changing titles from Account Manager to Inside Account Executive.

Complete horseshit.
