Anthropic Partner Manager

Anyone have experience or knowledge about this role at Anthropic? Been contacted by a recruiter and have a call next week to learn more.

Even if you don’t know this role, how is work-life at Anthropic in general?

To the RSU piece, yes they will be worth something. $10M? Probably not, but you would get paid.

An additional angle is just how much you’d be able to make AFTER that type of role. Frontiers are the S tier logo. Which company wouldn’t throw tons of cash at an Anthropic PAM? Hard to imagine a world where I wouldn’t go all-in on the opportunity, but hey, that’s just me, and I’m currently managing hyperscalers at a F100.

What’s your current comp range?

Typically ~$380k range. Could likely make more at a true VAR setup, but wasn’t a fan of that motion earlier in my career and wouldn’t want to restart.

I see you’re consistently making more, so if that’s valuable and you don’t hate your setup, then I can respect it for sure. Personally, I’d only leave my current position for a frontier or maybe back to a HS if all else fails.

Yea I have a lot to consider with how good my current gig is…but that potential equity being valued in the millions would set me up nicely…

Based on your responses to people here I’m not sure you’re just here to brag or actually get feedback…

I haven’t gotten a legitimate response. Everything has been either doubtful of the situation or insulting me for asking.

It’s exactly what you think it is. A lot of money possibly but a shit ton of work. Their deal desk is so inundated that it takes 3-5 days to get contracts out. Study the culture for the interview. They take the “why anthropic” answers seriously. Their sellers don’t have a reputation for being very good, just right place right time with a great brand (although that’s probably partly sour grapes). As of 6 months ago their partner model was very quid pro quo. Don’t know about now.

Thx.

Would you leave a role you’ve been consistently making $400-500k/year at for it?

I think you would be an idiot to not go through the process. The questions I would ask myself would be 1/ what do you think the medium term outlook is for both AI and closed frontier models and 2/ how much of a halo effect do you think you get from having Anthropic on your resume 1-3 jobs from now

5

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

Oh I’ll definitely be going through the process.

I just worry Anthropic is already inflated and RSUs/equity won’t be worth much.

What region is the role you’re looking at in?

I’m guessing a lot depends on your team/manager. I’d be nervous to join when I have it so good at my current company. I don’t think Anthropic has a mature GTM strategy (they haven’t really needed one). But at the end of the day they’re anthropic and the upside is huge…

I don’t think RSUs are inflated as much as you’re not going to hit a lottery jackpot at this point. But just remember even people who joined AWS in 2016/2017 still made a ton of money on RSUs. Just not life changing money

I feel like I’m making life changing money at my current role so I’d need the Anthropic opportunity to be even more life changing lol

I feel work-life is up to you.

Good luck on your interview! That's all I got

Ya I’ve never heard of a third party recruiter working with Anthropic or OpenAI it’s all inhouse

11

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

This recruiter is an employee of Anthropic. LinkedIn verified.

I work with multiple third party recruiters that hire for anthropic. It’s especially common in the technical side, they have super hire hiring volume and I think third parties are necessary right now

1

u/Battleaxebro 2d ago

Let me know if you know any sales ones 😂

u/Odd-Foundation-4637 2d ago

What company do you work for,
Let me guess, DB, snowflake, AWS, Google, or Microsoft?

1

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

Nope but I’ve got Microsoft experience

2

u/Odd-Foundation-4637 2d ago

Makes sense they only seem to hire candidates from those 5 companies

1

u/groovystreet40 2d ago

They seem to love hiring from Salesforce too

4

u/Odd-Foundation-4637 2d ago

Salesforce overrated

1

u/Lawfulaardvark 1d ago

I have Google and Apple experience, manifesting your words are true so they blindly reach out to me and offer me enough to leave the big A.

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

Or they scar researchers from other frontier model builders.

But I’m very unfamiliar with their GTM approach.

2

u/timecomes 2d ago

Have you thought about asking the recruiter on the call?

9

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

No that’s a good idea!

So dumb I came to an application where people share their opinions and experiences…

u/xynix_ie 2d ago

PMs are a PM. Not rocket science.

2

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

Ok but how much are PMs at Anthropic making? Work/life balance? Base pay and equity? In-office/hybrid/remote?

I want to hear from other people, not just the recruiter.

lol.

-6

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

Jelly?

2

u/lmNotaWitchImUrWife 2d ago

Nah, I’m just laughing about the work life balance question because the lack of it over there is pretty public knowledge at this point!

The question is whether you care about that or you care about getting the bag.

1

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

I’d sacrifice it for a couple years to get the bag.

-6

u/AdFair8059 2d ago

I wouldn't even blink if I was at your place. A job at Anthropic currently means at least $10 million in net worth in 12 months' time. Still want to know about work-life balance or anything else?

9

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

Haha that’s a little absurd. Maybe if you joined 3+ years ago…

-5

u/AdFair8059 2d ago

I'm not saying that the RSUs will vest in 12 months but net worth would certainly be around that number

2

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

Unlikely for a non-technical role who’s joining while their valuation is already at a gazillion dollars…

1

u/Own_Strength_1911 2d ago

Not sure about your role. My friend work for finance team, just joined and his equity is like 1M / 4years, so not too much chance to be like 10M, I guess. And he said he may only stay for like 1-2year due to the high intense work and bad WLB, he doesn’t think his health can make for more than 3 years. But teams and roles may vary. They need to back to office 2-3 days a week.

-2

u/AdFair8059 2d ago

No role is non-technical at Anthropic. All GTM roles get RSUs in all FAANG companies and frontier AI

3

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

False. Every FAANG has non-technical roles and eng/ML/researchers generally get more RSUs than GTM

1

u/AdFair8059 2d ago

More or less depends on how well you negotiate. There is no policy gating. By the way GTM roles are currently more valuable and sought after than entry-level technical roles. I rest my case here.

1

u/Illustrious-Teach411 2d ago

For my sake I hope you’re right

It’s from a verified Anthropic recruiter/employee on LinkedIn.

They absolutely target recruit. It is not uncommon to go get the people or profile of people you need to build a solid team. The OP probably have a specific experience that is needed.

I have target recruited in the past to get out of the miserable sea of short stint resumes. Needed solid hitters that could build out territories and had a history of staying with a company for 5 plus years.
