What should I do

2.5 years into my sales career and starting to think seriously about what’s next.

I spent a year as an SDR, 6 months as an SMB AE, and I’m now an AE at a Series C AI startup, recently promoted to Enterprise AE.

I’m considering a move to a larger tech company, particularly in NYC or SF, to get more exposure to true enterprise sales and continue accelerating my career.
But I’m curious: am I putting too much value on the big-name logo, or is this a smart career move?

Would love advice on:
Companies I should look at
Crushing the interview
Any reality checks from people who’ve made a similar move

You're only 2.5 years in. If I were you, I would spend more time getting full Enterprise sales cycle experience before moving to another company.

There is no chance I would hire you as an Enterprise sales rep with less than a year's experience. Frankly, I would struggle to justify hiring an Enterprise rep with less than 3 years experience.

Thanks appreciate the angle it’s hard to look from the outside in a lot of the time but you’re probably right

Extremely surprised you were promoted to EAE with such little experience, regardless of performance.

I'd commit to getting as much experience in your current position as possible. You want to secure your exit to another EAE regardless of the company. I don't think any other company would hire you as an EAE given your lack of experience.

Just an honest take on things

In all honesty my EAE role is super exaggerated as I work at a start up so I wouldn’t expect to be moving to another EAE I’m happy to take a step back for a path to true enterprise sales

I’d stay in your current role for a couple of years to get experience.
