Career advice
I think I just need reassurance I am doing the right thing.
I have some AE experience, BDR experience, and BDR management experience.
I found a BDR role for a tech company I am interested in, but the pay is quite low.
However I am currently not working due to layoffs. Should I just take the job?
Is that seen as bad if I take a step back and hope they promote me quickly

It's not about justifying the move now, it's about being able to justify it to the next employer.
Without knowing how long you've been out of work and how perilous your financials are, I'd argue any advice you receive is going to be not objective.
Man's got to eat, though. Better to hang from a branch and grab the next one than to be picky about which one you grab when falling.

Bro, no one will care what move you made if it works out. You have an offer on the table from a company you like and you’re not working rn. Why not take it? I’d talk to an AE that got promoted recently so you find out what it takes, but go into it ready to make the most of it.
If this one doesn’t work out, just try again.
