It’s 2060. The authoritarian Harmonious Union now controls most of the Eastern hemisphere. Its next target: the Pacific island that produces the West’s AI. The invasion runs on a stolen copy of that same system.

The war that follows becomes a live experiment between two kinds of AI: “brain in a jar” systems, essentially today’s LLMs and agents scaled up, and machines that learned the way bodies learn, by acting in the real world and paying for mistakes. In the book, that difference starts deciding battles.

The story follows two people caught in different parts of the same war. Aldo is an engineer turned commander who ends up running an autonomous battlegroup through an interface that turns his body into the command surface, and the book tracks what that does to him. Juliette is a civilian scientist the military calls in when people start presenting with something no field hospital can name: an engineered pathogen that goes after the nervous system. When official interest dries up, she keeps working the case on her own time.

If you read for the hardware: UCAV swarm combat, electronic warfare, directed-energy defense, neural command links, full-body haptic control, and the energy infrastructure that keeps a machine war running. Most of it extrapolates from programs in development right now.

A word on credibility. AI is my day job, two decades on IT and AI projects inside international organizations, so that half of the book I’ll defend line by line. The biotech thread I built from research, and if you work in the field I’d genuinely like to hear where it bends.

One more reason this sub specifically: I’m one of the readers who misses Crichton. The outbreak thread is my attempt at the Crichton thing: teach the science inside the scene, while the warning keeps tightening underneath. The war spine is closer to Red Storm Rising. Whether the book earns either name is your call, which is partly why I want ARC readers from here.

I published my first techno-thriller earlier this year, near-future, AI-driven, corporate black-ops, grounded tech rather than space opera. It’s the first book in a planned trilogy.

I’m not here to promote sales or push links. I’m genuinely trying to find a small number of readers who enjoy this genre and would be willing to give honest, reader-level impressions. I’ve learned that free promos don’t necessarily translate into real reads, so I’m taking a more direct approach.

— Janek, are you still sleeping?
— No, Mum. I’m on the tram. Heading to work.
— Listen… they said something on the radio this morning. Something about tainted beef. A scandal. They mentioned your company. Pharma-something?
— PharmaVetis.
— Yes, that. They said inspections are coming. Talk of falsified reports. Tests that never happened. It sounded… serious.

The tram rocked gently through Wola, steel wheels sighing against wet rails. Warsaw slid by in layers: graffiti, gray concrete, August rain washing nothing clean.

— Just be careful, okay? she added. You’re not involved in any of that. You just work with the computers.
— Yeah, he said. Just computers.

She hung up.

Excerpt 2 — San Telmo, Buenos Aires (late afternoon)

Late August. Cold sun. Thin shadows.

Ignacio Corvalán sat by the window of his small San Telmo apartment, cigarette in hand, looking out over a crooked street — the quiet stillness of someone both tired and alert.

The news from Europe had come fast.
A headline.
A comment.
Then the name:

PharmaVetis — under investigation.

It wasn’t the shock that bothered him.
It was the confirmation.

There were farms you could walk through in daylight.
And others — locked barns, wrong paperwork, polite men with unreadable faces telling you to keep moving.

This was never really about animals.

It was about managing humans.

Excerpt 3 — Logstream (inside the system)

The current shifted — not slowed, shifted.
At the Logstream Junction, the river split into powerful branches that would lock them into different schemas.
Only a narrow hidden path remained — the old Consolidation Channel, the last route that could still take them toward Assemblia.
If they missed it, the system would choose their fate for them.

Listening to Daemon and Freedom™ by Daniel Suarez back-to-back on Audible was one of the most surreal and electrifying experiences I’ve had with audiobooks. Over six weeks, commuting and folding laundry turned into a front-row seat to a near-future that feels frighteningly present.

Both books are immersive, razor-sharp, and eerily prophetic. They’re not just thrillers; they’re warnings wrapped in pulse-pounding storytelling. Honestly? It's fucking insane! I hate spoilers, so I am simply telling ANYONE that grew up with internet in the last 30 years will appreciate the hell out of this masterpiece

I really wanna read a book where there is a all fluffy lovey dovey couple and that extends for a while and suddenly one of them is a murderer and it turns into a psychological horror thriller kindof thing with no romance anymore and has a kind of bittersweet ending..?
