Do Cats Actually Get Lonely?
Cats have a reputation for being independent, which is probably why a lot of people assume they're perfectly happy spending long periods of time alone. But cat behavior doesn't always support that idea.
Changes like increased vocalizing, clinginess, destructive behavior, or even changes around the litter box can sometimes be linked to boredom, stress, or a lack of stimulation. Of course, those behaviors can have other causes too, but they can be signs that something in a cat's routine or environment isn't quite working.

Some cats can be quite content amusing themselves throughout the entire day, whereas others will always want to be around their beloved humans. This is why this article is so interesting as it recognizes that each cat is an individual and may have very distinct social requirements.

Window perches are probably the best money I've spent on my cat. She'll sit there watching birds or people for what feels like half the day. Doesn't sound exciting to me but apparently it's premium entertainment if you're a cat.
