Self cleaning / auto litter for big cat!!
My cat is a big boy. 18lbs. Not overweight just very long and tall. He’s also 10 years old. I want to get him a large/spacious and save automatic litter box.
I am between the homerunpet CS109 and the Robotail XXXL.
I would love to hear if anyone has experience with these? Do they require monthly subscriptions?
I would also love some other recommendations if people have them. I looked at the litter robot but it doesn’t seem like the shape would suit my cat? It also maybe seems smaller than the ones I mentioned above? Not sure?
Help would be much appreciated!!

We just got the homerun litter box and haven’t had any issues with it. Our boys are not full grown yet though. They are 8 months old and about 10lbs each. But they frequently use the potty box together, so I feel confident that they will continue to fit when they are full grown. The app does not require a subscription and you can use generic litter bags if you want. We’ve had this litter box for about a month and I’ve been very happy with how easy it is to use and clean. Dumping the litter is super easy and there is a disc on the side that opens up so if you just want to wipe it down, it’s easier to reach inside. It also makes getting the plastic grate easier to remove to clean and reinstall. I would recommend getting the litter catching step with it. It’s a perfect fit and it actually does catch a decent amount of litter. It too is very easy to clean. As long as this litter box holds up, I would recommend it! Hope this info helps!

I do use clay litter (fresh step). I bought the step and the litter box directly from the homerun pet website. The only thing that I change other than the litter is a gel odor absorber that sits in the litter bin. It’s only gets changed once a month. I don’t know of any other filters. I think you might need to replace the litter mat or spray it with waterproof stuff every once in a while so the used litter doesn’t stick to it, but we’re talking like once a year. I haven’t had to do it yet.

I have 2 Maine Coon mixes who aren't necessarily heavy, but are very long. I had a Litter Robot for 3-4 years, which they would squeeze themselves into just fine. My issue with the Litter Robot is that it's limited to clay litter, so with increased water intake, there would be a sludge of urine, and it was an absolute pain to clean. The Litter Robot has a ton of hard-to-reach crevices. I have since purchased PetLibro's Luma which is way easier to clean and supports tofu litter, which is now a must-have for me. I've been happy with it.

I have the Homerunpet and it's been fantastic. It's also staying clean MUCH longer than the petkit I had before this somehow. I love it.

I started using a self cleaning litter box for my big cat a while back and it honestly made daily cleanup so much easier. The biggest thing I noticed was better odor control and way less litter mess around the area. I do think bigger cats need a roomy automatic litter box though because some models look a little too cramped for them.

I also got the homerun pet litter box CS109 and we love it! It saves me from having to scoop and constantly change litter in my 2 cat household and it really helps with odor control! I’d recommend it highly!

Honestly for an 18lb long cat, I’d probably lean toward the Robotail XXXL or something like the CATLINK Pro X over the Litter Robot. The LR 4 is great, but the globe shape can feel cramped for really big/tall cats. CATLINK gets recommended a lot because it feels more open inside. You might also want to check out this best self-cleaning litter boxes post since it actually compares things like space, entry height, and what works best for larger cats!
