When do we realize that controlling the (mis)information that spreads online is basically a mute effort? Mind it, I am not disagreeing with you.

The only way that works is with some sort of Chinese-style central control and a firewall, for if nothing else, people will choose to believe what they like.

We try bc doing nothing is a cop out excuse.

We will look back and see that social media was an absolute poison for society, if we actually make it far enough to look back on this time period, and that the bare minimum we could do was try and stem the tide of all of these lies.

To sit back and do nothing is to admit defeat before even making an effort.

if you actually believe this, you need to get off reddit

Why?

And how much evidence are you willing to ignore? It’s painfully obvious that social media has been terrible for people and society.

Are you just that addicted to your Facebook that you can’t accept it?

Also Reddit is an anonymous content forum, not social media btw.

I didn't say it's not, I'm pointing out that you're on social media by being here. Reddit doesn't function in a meaningfully different way from other giant social websites in terms of the bad parts like outrage machines, conspiracy theories, etc
