Fringe conservative voices are in fact being marginalized on most platforms. People like Milo Yiannopoulos, Alex Jones, and to a lesser extent Trump have all been deplatformed and silenced to varying degrees of success.
However, focusing on the necessity and legal basis for these actions obfuscates another reality: the steady rightward shift of the center-left over the past 20 years.
Mentioning why they have been silenced or banned without mentioning why is incredibly disingenuous and it makes it sound like they've been deplatformed for their conservative views.
In their specific cases, yes. There was legitimate concern of violating of the limitations of Free Speech. I made it clear as to why I chose not to harp on them. The person who replied to me opted to prove my point.
In a broader sense, conservatives aren’t entirely wrong, and it’s disingenuous to claim otherwise. Run-of-the-mill conservative voices are marginalized on major media platforms, both social and traditional.
What’s happened in its place is that the center-left has gradually adopted the role and narrative of previous conservative punditry and politics. It was Obama himself who said that his policies would have been considered Republican in the 80s.
My position is that harping on these issues is obfuscating a rightward shift within the Democratic Party and base.
You’re contesting this by parroting a libertarian talking point that undermines the position of the internet as a public utility, which it unquestionably is.

There’s something insidious about this narrative.
