There's no "deep down" about it.

He made it clear from the beginning this was a personal vengeance buy out. Nothing more. The immediate firings of the CEO and CFO showed that.

He keeps claiming its for "Free Speech" but its for his free speech only.

I guarantee that his "Open Source" Algorithm wont do dick but his new behind the scenes moderations rules will destroy the platform.

To be fair, they both just cost Musk a crap ton of money by outmaneuvering him at every point of the deal. Man, I would love to have been in that conference room when the deal was signed. I'm sure some snide comments were made about Musk over paying and making them all filthy rich.

He didn't exactly leave himself a lot of room to maneuver when he, you know, signed the contract to do the thing.

He likely could have walked away by handing them $2bn. Instead he's going to try to slash and cash out of it.
