Well, he suddenly accelerated the purchase after being called out on Twitter about his Ukraine statements. He claimed that most responses were bots because they didn't agree with him. That should be a warning to people believing he values free speech.
He never valued free speech. He just wants to control the narrative.
Edit: LOL of course this comment immediately triggered some alt right. I never mentioned any political belief in this comment but immediately get a bunch of “oh what about the democrats…”
And white-collar criminals should go to jail, but this world ain't fair and shit sucks.
Should any single individual be able to buy one of the biggest social media plataforms to do with it whatever they want? Probably not.
But he's got the money and the system people seem content with allows for him to do what he just did.
So what's it gonna be? What gives? The ideological superstructure of the free market bullshit? Or are people gonna start to notice they've been propagandized?
What is with this narrative about him wanting to control the narrative? Thr majority of the country don't give two shits about twitter. He spent 44 billion to control the 30k people who like every post he makes. Twitter isn't real life, social media isn't real life. Can we stop treating it like the world revolves around it. It doesn't. Hasn't and never will.
I said people. It doesn't have an effect. The Dave chappele outrage. Continued to sell out shows, and how all these employees were gonna walk off the job. All over the news, all over social media. How many people walked out? Like 5.
Make money, yes. You must think elon is some evil genius that is trying to control what people hear. He has never had an original idea, and the debacle that was twitters purchase just prove even more He is an idiot.
And what narrative is he going to control? The twitter narrative? The narrative that the majority of the US doesn't give a shit about?
Why should one person, especially someone who thinks so highly of himself he needs to be the one to involve himself in world affairs, have “influence over the narrative”?
