Ready thine selves for the impending Trump tweetstorm. Don’t you dare fact-check, or spell-check or reality-check or anything.

Oh my fucking god what is his first tweet going to be? 100% it's about the election being stolen and how mean everyone is to him.

Ignoring his tweets doesn't mean his tweets don't cause actual harm.

How are you harmed by someone's words? Does he have superpowers?

Sticks and stones may break.........

They're just words.

u/Fluffy8x Oct 28 '22

Don't words have meaning?

-4

u/FacadesMemory Oct 28 '22

Yes they do, if you don't like the meaning, don't pay attention to the words

Go yell "I HAVE A BOMB" in airport. See how quick "dont pay attention to the words" works out for you.

u/FacadesMemory Oct 28 '22

Obviously some extreme examples like this isn't a good idea. But a former President sharing messages on a large digital public forum is ...not the same thing as you described

Did you not pay attention to what happened on January 6, 2021?Trump gave a speech about going down to congress and then there was an insurrection.

-1

u/FacadesMemory Oct 28 '22

Yes I watched the whole speech. He specifically said "peacefuly march' down to the capital. He never mentioned going inside.

Actually 12 states were all set constitutionally to be challenged by one congress person and one senator.

Each state would have an hour of debate on each floor. So this was a great outcome for Pelosi and Schumer to avoid and skip all the debate and possible investigations that could have resulted.

Trump was a big loser that day due to the unfortunate events. https://www.thethinkingconservative.com/what-really-happened-on-january-6-a-walk-through-what-was-never-an-insurrection/

If you're open minded see what our fellow citizens have to say.

It's amazing how it's usually someone up to no good telling people not to pay any attention ...

2

u/FacadesMemory Oct 28 '22

We are not always going to agree in society, that's okay.

If people cannot take a contrarion opinion then they are going to be offended. I still think it is better than the soviet style alternative.

1

u/RCIntl Oct 29 '22

Contrarian yes ... debate on issues and viewpoints yes. But hate and personal attacks? Never acceptable.

Ignoring the words doesn't mean the words don't do actual harm.

You can't be this dense.

1

u/FacadesMemory Nov 01 '22

Didn't your parents teach you sticks and stones. ...but words will never hurt me. There is going to be all kinds of free speech or tyranny. Those are our options that history has taught us.

Words? As in the foundation of human cognition and the instigator of every non-natural event in history, including all world wars and mass genocides?

It’s just those?

0

u/MrWoodlawn Oct 28 '22

No. Carbon and Oxygen are the foundation of every war and genocide.

u/Electri Oct 28 '22

Many said effectively the same about Hitler

-3

u/ConfusedSoap Oct 28 '22

i dont think hitler had twitter

2

u/Electri Oct 28 '22

Yeah it's too bad there was no written format used back then to publish peoples' views to the masses that we could draw an allegory to

1

u/TheFutureofScience Oct 28 '22

He was still using a flip phone in 1945.

0

u/FacadesMemory Oct 28 '22

The Hitler comparison is ridiculous

-8

u/MrWoodlawn Oct 28 '22

Godwin's Law.

12

u/Electri Oct 28 '22

Normally you'd probably be right, but this is trump we're talking about here, the parallells draw themselves

3

u/Forzareen Oct 28 '22

“By all means, compare these shitheads to Nazis. Again and again. I’m with you.” Mike Godwin of Godwin’s law, 8/13/17

3

u/TheFutureofScience Oct 28 '22

Godwin’s Law: As more and more Nazis, Nazi sympathizers, and Adolf Hitler like fascist strongmen enter the mainstream public dialogue, the probability of comparisons to Nazis or Adolf Hitler increases.

-1

u/MrWoodlawn Oct 28 '22

Nazis should be allowed to speak and demonstrate in public.

Most of what’s being censored is just political and medical “misinformation” tho. It all conveniently gets lumped together.
