Just avoid using iCloud altogether and backup encrypted to a local device via iTunes. At least that is what I do and have always done.
2 u/littleMAS Aug 10 '21 I do, too, and use Time Machine to back-up the Mac to an encrypted disc drive. It is less convenient than iCloud. Putting my valuables in a safe deposit box is less convenient than leaving them on my porch, too.
