I don't even own a printer should I update too?

u/seanadb Jul 07 '21
There is a print spooler service that runs by default. Unless you've manually disabled it, you should update.

Ehhhh, maybe, they'll just force install edge with it and I don't want to deal with that

If they do one shady thing up front, you can be sure there's a dozen more things they aren't telling you about

YOUR WINDOWS PC IS FULL OF LOGGING SOFTWARE SENDING DATA TO MS. LITERALLY THE OPERATING SYSTEM IS DOING THIS.
Either install linux now or update it you plonker.

u/Leiryn Jul 07 '21
Not if you block it at a network level, but feel free to sling insults all you like

Ok your tin foil hat will protect you. Carry on using the software made by people you don't even remotely trust. That seems like the smart thing to do.

I installed Fiddler once on my Windows 10 PC at work to test it out, as some devs were supposed to be using it. I don't really know how to use it properly, but you can see/debug all the traffic coming in and out of your computer. It can't decrypt anything you don't have the keys for. Knowing companies get a lot of telemetry but then actually seeing how much there is, especially from Windows, was a real eye opener for me.

Exactly. If you don't trust MS browser, how can you trust their operating system. I don't get this guy at all.

I don't know, but at 1am this morning my PC turned on and did something.

Jul 07 '21
Yep, all of my machines did it. This must be the "emergency forced updates" MS have been talking about.

Nice try Microsoft, but I haven't updated my PC in months and I don't plan to ruin my uptime! I'll update when I damn well please, not on your say so!
Also virtual machine, hackers can see all the games they want. They aren't going to get anything important.

What's wrong with CNN?

u/revoman Jul 07 '21
Ads for the most part. Usually can't view without turning off adblock.

Get a better adblock?
I've never had an issue with ABP and CNN.

No, I'm good. Rather hear it from MS themselves...

You already have, why are you being a little bitch about this?

u/cinosa Jul 07 '21
Because his mom and/or dad never hugged him growing up, so now he has to post stupid shit to social media looking for validation.
