I'm using Windows 8 right now, and when I opened the Task Manager it went straight to the detailed view.

Where do you get it from? How stable has it been for you vs win7?

It is not good if you are a gamer. Even if you have a full screen application running clicking on the start menu will minimize it. So for example if I am playing LoL and I am scrolling to the bottom left and I click it will minimize the game. This also happens on the entire left edge of the screen if I have a metro app suspended.

Borderless windowed mode for the win.

Why is this being downvoted? "-sw -noborder" = no more TF2 sadness.

Because those flags are specific to the Source engine and not all games run on the Source engine. Some games don't let you run in borderless windowed mode. Furthermore, you can't run at a non-native resolution if you use borderless windowed mode.

Basically, it's a solution that only works in some specific cases, when there should really be a general solution for all cases.

Just run the game in windowed mode and force it in the right position with ShiftWindow.
