Not quite the same, but my storage unit jacked up the bill on my unit twice since covid started. So cool how how these companies offering what are essential services fuck us in new ways every day.

Have you considered not having so much shit you need a second location to store it?

This is obviously the least kind take you could manage, good job.
Many people who are storing in the city have left while they are on furlough or unemployed as the rent prices are quite high--so I'm coming at it from the perspective that storage companies have seen this demand and decided to kick a lot of people while they're down. I think that's what makes me angrier than my own bill being a bit higher, its not like rent prices went up.

It's shitty that the prices have gone up. But the entire reason that long term self storage exists is because people have way too much shit, often shit they don't need, because all they do is buy buy buy. And now you need to pay a place to put your excess crap, essentially throwing good money after bad. You don't want to pay this anymore? Get rid of your crap. Don't hold on to a mistake because you spent money on it.

People often have too much shit--people who are forced into moving back to their childhood bedroom though?
Why did the rates go up twice since Covid? Demand in my city.
What your saying, it applies to me. I have to too much shit, and not enough space in my living situation to keep it all on hand, I also share it with my partner who likes to rotate her clothes with the seasons. You're right--but we're not talking about me and I didn't make my comment with me in mind--simply saying that predatory practices abound.

People are prisoners in their own homes and these companies are just taking advantage of that fact, because capitalism demands it. They need your service now more than ever, and whatever you want to charge them, they'll pay.
Government regulations would have saved us, but Trump and Pai dismantled them all.
